Think so, but the voucher above will give you £6 off

Just ordered 1 using Quidco and paid £63.97 as stated. Good price including clubcard points and cashback on my credit card!

Thanks

could you use both like the £6 when you order, but pay in-store and use the catalogue

Yes - two screws at one end, slides out without any issues.

Have to say this is a really good drive... have quite a few externals and rate this as one of my best; .. quiet, can be left on 24/7 .. works a treat! Can also be switched on/off via power-switch which is a must as far as I'm concerned!

Stonking price!

Really good drive once fat32 formatted for the ps3 works like a dream.

great price...but as its got a seagate drive in, im dubious... i have friends who have had nothing but trouble with them.

iomega arent a bad brand though.

anyone able to tell me if this is power by a usb (i like this type) or adapter plug please?

Only 2.5" drives can be powered by USB.

So no.

Is this better than the ]Toshiba for £6 more?

Arguably yes, since this has a bigger cache. Not sure how much difference you'd actually noticed with it connected as an external drive but the bigger cache size should help if you ever decide to put the drive inside your computer.

Can I
*Take the drive out
*Put it in my PC
*then put my current PC harddrive in the external chassis and format it for use with my PS3?

Also, is this cost effective? :-D

Is it that simple? I thought the PS3 could only accept drives up to 320GB

He means externally via USB, this drive is physically too big to fit into the PS3 anyway at 3.5 inch instead of 2.5 inch

Also posted in some depth is the problems that many of these drives had.

Can anyone confirm if these contain the same internals as the problem drives?

If they are has the firmware update resolved the problem.

I have one of these sat in my kitchen waiting to be returned due to the stories behind them.

I'm no expert at these things but did some research...albeit after I had bought it!

i can't see the £6 off voucher everyone is mentioning

I have bought 3 of these now - One for me and two for colleagues.

My colleague bought one aboutr 2 months ago and had the 'dodgy firmware' drive. Since then, the drives I have bought have had a different firmware on the drive, so I'd say that from now on, you should be OK.

As far as the one with dodgy firmware was concerned, I removed the drive and flashed it using the utility on the Seagate website. You have to remove the drive from the case and attach it to a desktop PC (internally) as the main drive (any PC bought in the last 2 years should be fine). You just boot off the downloaded CD (you have to burn the .iso image to a blank CD first). The firmware update takes a minute or so.

If your current drive is SATA and you has da skillz, then yes.

Bought this model a couple of weeks back for about a tenner more - decent enough quality for the price. Still can't believe how cheap storage is getting these days. http://toyblogger.co.uk/b1.jpg”http://toyblogger.co.uk/b2.jpg”

Remember though that you have to buy some blu-tac to cover up the blindingly bright light on the Tosh, so it's actually less than £6 :-D

Thanks... ordered one of these which I plan to swap over with my current 500GB drive in my NAS

Ive been using mine in my Sky HD box for about 2 months now without issues, its very quiet too.

These new ones should be ok

Ordered  ta

You should still put £68.97 as the price because that's how much it is with delivery, regardless of if you have a Tesco less than £5 worth of petrol away.

Anybody know if this is compatable with an intel mac mini?

thanks

Nice deal

That's another £64 I cant afford.:whistling:

How does this discount work?

Is there a voucher inside the catalogue or some other method?

No, you just wave the catalogue at the person at the till... but the thing is you've already paid for it so how would you get your money off? :P
