Dixions and PC World are all owned by the same company.
Their price is the same as the price I posted at pc world.
They all call it portabe, therefore I just copied and pasted.
What's with all the links, are you out to discredit me or something? lol

I had one of those seagate hard drives... I used it for video editing. I know usb2 isn't ideal.
Anyhow to cut a long story short, it died after 6 months. Plus it's an ugly black brick.
If you're a MAC owner you might prefer the silver housing of the Iomega, I dunno?

I use a bunch WD 'My Studio's' myself.

sorry im not trying to discredit to you and i know they are part of DSGi, and yes the seagate drives have click of death i was just trying to explain why the price is average for a 1tb usb and offer an alternative option.

It appears that hard drives in general are falling in price. I've been out of the loop for only a year, when I bought my 1tb WD My Studio, for £110 http://news.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/10381/559889.jpg

The seagate drives and the 'click of death' have been solved by the firmware update - but a bit of a nause to apply to the external drives. Ironically the same drives were used in the Iomega Prestige and so they suffered the same issues (I had one I had to update 2 weeks ago).

However....

The latest prestige drives contain a different drive - this one Seagate Barracuda LP ST31000520AS , which runs at 5900 rpm but has a bigger cache: newegg.com/Pro…411

And, as the reviews say, it runs very cool - which is important as the Iomega doesn't have a fan in it. The brushed aluminium of the prestige looks very nice though and it feels very sturdy in comparison to some of the other drives I've tried.

There is also a possible 1.94 cashback via Quidco at 3%

As a slight aside the seagate 1TB external is now 60.00 instore at Staples.

It's gone back up to £69.99!
Anyone know where else might be selling it cheaper??
