If you read reviews of iomega drives, a lot of people complain of overheating. I've got the 320GB version thats on 24/7 and i've never had that problem. All in, a good drive and nice looking to boot. Metal cased as well rather than cheap tacky sprayed plastic AND it has an on/off switch. Deffo not designed by Porsche:-D

Hey, Shengis. Thanks alot pal. You answered 99% of my question before I even asked it!

Especially the part about the on/off switch.

Now... where would I be able to get a network HDD for that price I wonder

In the meantime I am planning to get this though.... anyone else got any comments???

Thanks tanto,

Bought one of these to keep my son's PS2, PSP, GBA and Wii Backups on.

Heat and Rep added.

The price per GB is 0.14975 compared with the expired offer of the maxtor 0.1406 and the lacie 500gb 0.142. Which is the best one to you for quality?

What make/model of drive is inside this iomega box?

Not sure on the 400GB model but the my 320 has a Seagate drive inside:thumbsup:

My 500GB was also Seagate, so I guess chances are good that this one will also be Seagate.

The maxtor is the best offer just because its a maxtor I guess. However I was looking for something that is externally powered as opposed to USB powered.

If you mean the grey one then it depends on whether you are comparing price per MB over looks. If you don't care about what it looks like then you're probably right (no on/off switch though). Personally I prefer the styling of the Iomega drives with their bright blue LED:-D

Also I believe that ALL 3.5" externals are externally powered:thumbsup:

well all desktop drives are externally powered. and i have an iomega drive and a maxtor drive, iomega looks best, and the maxtor just broke.

I like Iomega, even from the days of the Zip drive. I am now convinced.... going to get 2 Iomega exernals seperate google checkout orders of course as opposed to one Network drive (Freecom cheapest I could find was about £145+P&P for 500gb).

Will network them through the PC's I guess saves money that way and your getting 800gb worth of space for a 1/3 off.

Thank you all

One more question when is the google checkout offer finishing?

Apparently the 11th

what's a better buy this one or a previously posted one...

woahh...wt do u mean the google checkout offer is finishing?

Hello,

I'm looking for an external 3.5" USB drive 320GB or more which will automatically power down when I power off the PC. I know a 2.5" external drive will do this (since it's powered off USB only) but none of them have a large enough capacity yet.

Thank you

Actually my mybook does.

Does anyone know what the Cache size is on this drive? Also does anyone know what warrenty this comes with?

I dont know whether to get this the my book 320gb or the maxtor 320gb (but maxtor is out of stock now)

I'm hoping someone can let me know if i could use this as a media player via the usb port on my chilli dvix dvd player.

if so i think i'm going for it, been waiting for a decent size hard drive, shame it aint a 500gb but i'll take the 400gb.

Is Lacie good?

i've seen on another forum that they seem to be well respected. have you seen a good deal somewhere?

seen this one n saverstore, lacie make, its 500gb and looks pretty but is it worth the extra dosh than the iomega one.

woah....wa u mean finishes on the 11th??

expires the 11th.

If anyone has bought this, can you tell me what hard drive is inside your Iomega external drive. If you have a Seagate hard disk inside the Iomega which model number it is? e.g ST3320620A

Thanks in advance

Well folks thats me had mine less than 10 days and it's just packed in. Quite a record. Beats the 3 weeks for my last Maxtor drive.

It's a Hitachi device btw.
