was having a look at this myself, is it a good un?

Not as a good price as the Asda deal, but youy should be able to easily grab hold of this deal. Iomega is a respectable make for the brand snobs out there. Voted hot.

Good price, is this any better than this … Good price, is this any better than this onehttp://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/buffalo-500gb-portable-hdd-free-delivery-39-99-comet/895713/#post10828202

I would NEVER buy from Dabs or BTShop ever again. You're much better off buying the Buffalo from Comet for the same price. I've got the Buffalo and it's a very quiet fast drive.

Does this need 1 or 2 USB ports to connect to PC?

But this one has a 2 year warranty rather than the standard one on the other drive

I've not ever heard of drives needing more than one USB ports personally... The system requirements in the description is a "USB port" (singular) so I'd assume that it's just the one.

The older WD Passport drives needed a Y-cable (2 x usb to mini usb). Second USB was a spower supply. I know, 'cos I've got one!
Also got a DVD Writer that has 2 separate cables with the power ending in a standard tubular connection, a la Nokia...

I`ve just picked one up and the cable has 2 usb connectors and a mini, if it needs both plugged in to use it reliably it will be going back. I will update later.

Update, runs fine on 1 usb but drive iteself is slow....even when using 2 usb ports just in case it was not getting enough power, this is on a new dell xps.
