although posted a few days ago, its back in stock now.Double clubcard points on direct orders, and quidco too.
There is also a tesco sim deal with free post and £10 credit reduced to £5

I saw this post then suddenly thought I have one of these and a DVDplayer with usb connection, I just tried and found it makes it a nice media player, with no additional power supply required.
I would not of thought of trying that DOH!

Hot... just what I was after - 3 in stock at the local store, missed on quidco and extra points, but got 5% on my Amex Platinum which will do.
Thanks

Got the last one in Bradford, thanks

Very Hot!

I got one last time, tried for another and they were soild out.

Saw them back in stock yesterday and ordered two; one for me and one for my father.

Mine had a SATA II Seagate Drive.

I've swapped the drive in my lappy and will do likewise in my father's laptop. And we still have Backup drives (50% compression)

Damn, I was about to nip out...

are they 2.5" or 3.5" drives? thanks

edit - doh! Just checked the link! lol.

I've seen stuff about the Sim before...but what's the story?
I ordered one because it really only cost a few pence extra to do so, seeing as it came with free delivery with the hard disk.

Can I then take it back, and get £5 back?

Yep..

i order a virgin one , ten take it back to the store next time i do my shopping , ad ask for a refund on it as i was phoned by virgin ( my cable tv company ) to offer me the 300mins and 500 texts for £12 a month , so i wont be needing a PAYG sim now.

Is it one of the 'dodgy' Seagates with faulty firmware though?

seagate.custkb.com/sea…931

My local Sainsburys had 250gb 2.5 external drives earlier for £39.99, think they were made by maxtor.

I would also like to know about this!?

5400 series in mine...... so not affected

will these drives work as an upgrade in my ps3 ?

Depends on what's actually inside (I have no idea - not read up enough on it yet)

Should be perfectly fine though seen its probably a 2.5" SATA drive.

For ps3 take a look at this I just posted, its a tenner dearer but its 320gb hotukdeals.com/ite…5-h

Who is the seller?

EDIT: Through some searching I think I know what's happened. Your thread has been deleted?

Maybe because there is a big thread on that deal already: hotukdeals.com/ite…t-/

Got one of these from allerton liverpool branch

had it a few weeks and it is doing the buisness the only fault is the cable plugging into the HD is not usb its one of the small camera type sockets and can be tempremental easy to pull out by accident just by moving a little

Complete noob here, would this drive fit in to a PB Easynote BG45-U-300? And if so would anyone recommend I upgrade to this?

Yeah, but the drive you quoted is a 3.5 inch powered unit.

The 2.5 inch takes all power via the USB.

I'm surprised it took this long for the numpty 3.5" brigade to chip in with their unhelpful info.

Excuse me !!!! How frikkin patronising can you be?

I'm not undermining the offer posted in this thread, I'm merely pointing out another offer at Tescos for an external 1TB drive. Please forgive my technical inadeqeucies ! Whether someone even cares about 2.5 or 3.5 inch drives is one thing, some poeple may just want an external drive with a large storage capacity. Ever thought of that before you start with your 'unhelpful' comments.? You obviously have some deep 'techy' issues and have suffered pain and 'techy' bullying in your life. Really...get a life...no seriously.

Me, I have absolutely no preferences either way, and I find it totally sad that there are actually 'brigades' referred to like it is some sort of 'in' or 'out' club. Thankfully I am not tech obsessed and know the smell of fresh air.

Yes, i put one in mine last week, you can then stick the old hd from the ps3 in the casing and use it as portable storage.

Might I suggest you post this as a new thread, otherwise its similar to someone posting a deal for cheap apples and then someone adding a comment they also have cheap pears to?

Its a different beast i'm afraid, uses an external power supply, bulky, and not as easy to use in the field.

BTW, the price of £68 is also the best on the net, so well found.....

Sorry to be a techy geek

Apples and pears are you serious? He was posting about a 1tb hard drive, the OP is about a 250gb hard drive, hard drives are the same thing but apples and pears are not .

And yes I know they are different as I own a few different 3.5 and 2.5 HDD's but there was no need for people to start calling people numpties.

Regards Wodja ;-)

Ordered mine Saturday night, and it arrived this morning.
Much thinner than my year old Formac 120gb casing, but it is the small connector going off to two USB connectors - I'd imagine it needs both to be in for power.
The connector on the casing is nice and tight on mine, so think the earlier poster might be unlucky.

I've got a DVD player with a USB port, but it's only 1, rather than 2.
This doesn't work in it....which is a bit of a ******, but I really bought this becausee it was a good price for a PS3 drive replacement.

next stop...cheap PS3 deal.

Your external drive might work with your DVD player if its formatted to FAT32.

ahhh...ta for the tip...will reformat and try again.
Reckon it might be the power thing though - it just goes "tick tick tick tick" when I plug it in, which seems like the drive isn't spinning.

Brilliant deal + thanks to OP.

Heat & rep added!

Computers are computers?, but for example a laptop deal can't be compared with a desktop. No need for the name calling, but when someone puts the effect in to posting a deal, and all you get is ppl with no idea of the product posting 'other' products suggesting the post is ****. USB powered 'portable' hard drive has always been alot more expensive than the A/C powered big 3.5 ones. I wouldn't call them portable for a start.

I'm sure this is a good deal, but my experience with tesco online hasn't been positive so far. I ordered one of these exact drives last time they appeared on the site but didn't receive it as tesco cancelled my order.

I don't mind having orders cancelled for good reason but having my order cancelled without them giving me any reason at all is just bad form imo.

Tesco Direct are useless. I've just been offered a refund for this hard drive because they've lost it in the shop that I was supposed to pick it up from (Seacroft, Leeds), after two wasted trips made because they emailed me to tell me it was ready to collect. This has to be the worst online service that I've ever dealt with. Avoid.
