Amazing film! Don't forget Quidco!

An untouchable classic, Ip Man is a glorious and evocative biopic of the man who defied an empire, pioneered the world's most explosive fighting art, and went on to mentor Bruce Lee- the greatest martial arts icon of all time.

Set in Foshan, China, during the Sino-Japanese War, Ip Man vividly brings to life the brutality of the infamous Japanese occupation, where once proud men are forced to fight to the death for a precious bag of rice. Defined by courage and humility, one man rises to the fore, Grandmaster Ip Man (Donnie Yen): a Wing Chun impresario, whose matchless fighting skill is revered all over China.

Upon refusing to teach his beloved fighting art to the invading Japanese soldiers, he is forced to fight for the honour of his country in a series of battles that will culminate in a kill-or-be-killed showdown with Japan's greatest fighter.

With sumptuous production values, a career-defining performance from Kung Fu Superstar, Donnie Yen, and inspired close-quarter fight sequences by action-legend, Sammo Hung, Ip Man is an unforgettable event-movie experience that will define the benchmark in action-cinema for years to come.

watched it the other day. The fighting in it is awesome, the story lacks a bit I think

Already got this on BD, great film.

Have to admit I'd not heard of this movie before but judging by its high rating on IMDb and the praise in this thread I'm clearly missing out, heat added!

I watched this and wanted to learn a marshal art the next day. The fightings incredible. The stances the guys use look dope.

Ip man .... 127.0.0.1 LOL I always make that joke

The sequel didn't even come close to this one, they seldom do, a bit OTT for my liking.
Got this when it was a tenner, awesome film must be seen in HD to truly appreciate it.

Literally just watched this after buying it in asda. It was a fiver for DVD or £8 for BD. Feeling unusually flush I went for the BD and very very glad I did as the image quality is truly excellent. The film itself is engrossing and, oddly, slightly gently paced for an action film. Lead character is very watchable and likeable and plays the calm, collected master very well indeed. Story-wise, not the best, but not bad either and the fighting is incredibly choreographed.

Did the trick for me as I'm recovering from Man-flu today - a fine friday's viewing!
