Good deal if you need the 128gb but you can get the 2018 version for cheaper at 32gb
I just bought the 2018 model from Dixons at Gatwick 128gb for £370 they had some kind of promo on. There was also 20% off the pencil. Was 2 weeks ago so anyone traveling might be worth a look. Hope it helps someone

Only worth getting an older model if you understand that Apple will kill …Only worth getting an older model if you understand that Apple will kill your machine after 3 years so only 2 years left on a 2017. The missus made the mistake of buying me a refurb after they did their update trick on my old one but that had already been “updated” too. If you’re determined to buy, get the new model just out and you will have a great device for the full 3 years. Useless after that mind

The iPad Air was released in November 2013 and is still fully supported.

It may be the next to be dropped but it’s already at 4+ years so that blows your argument out of the water straight away

Excuse my ignorance but does anyone know if these are good for Microsoft Office? Thinking of ditching my slow laptop for a tablet and just wondered.
You can get office suite for free from App Store which isn’t that bad

There are Office packages available on the Apple store such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel, just to name a few. I am not sure if the apps are free. If you are thinking of replacing your laptop for an iPad then you might want to invest in a Bluetooth keyboard, optional of course.

It depends on what you need your version of office to do. You'll get nothing like the full office experience on a tablet. If you just need a mobile word processor to augment your home setup, then sure, but you'll need a good keyboard to go with it.
If office is important to you, then keyboard is a good investment. Also consider office 365 subscription. Have you looked into the Microsoft surface ?

Yes excel, word etc are all available for free on these as they are smaller than the 10 inch limit that Microsoft have set

So they’ll work perfectly as standalone products. They are fully fledged versions of the products and will do whatever you need BUT they might be a little awkward to navigate on a tablet so a keyboard would definitely benefit.

Going from a laptop to this MS office sweet will definitely not be simple but if it’s just for basic spreadsheets and word processing, you should be fine

Great as a companion device if you need to access docs on the go, but laborious if it’s a primary machine and you use it for anything more than light work, especially Excel.

32gb is worthless on an iPad. I have a 256gb pro and fill it up easily.
Great price ! Agreed that 32gb is worthless for 99% of people ,considering this isn't a device you replace even biannually or even every 3 years so it pays to future proof , apps only get better as does iOS itself.
Does this work with Apple pencil?

Can anyone help me understand how you work out which is the latest model and when the new models come out? Has this years version been released yet? For all models? I'm not sure if it's worth getting an older model if they stop doing updates for them in 2-3 years time...
There’s an Apple event during the first week of June so possibly a price drop on 2017 models. I’m holding out on an iPad Pro 12.7.

Long gone are the days of me keeping multiple GBs of movies on the tablets themselves. I’ve had a Wireless hard drive for years now, 2TBs so hold 8-9 times what any iPad does and can be accessed by multiple devices at once (upto . Also backups photos (not that I know why anyone would take photos on a tablet)

It’s far better value for a device like that then to pay Apple prices for storage

I’m definitely a high volume user but would never buy a 256GB device myself. There’s just no value for money IMHO.

But everyone’s miles may vary.

It's all well and good being fully supported but if they don't see an error you are unlikely to get much help. They are not going to give you your performance back although they may suggest many ways of helping you with this, I can assure you none of them will really work. It's a thing - look it up, they admitted to slowing the machines down.

They admitted to slowing phones down. Think you’re getting your wires crossed.

What exactly do you mean about them not seeing an error? Really don’t understand the point you are trying to make.

Making outrageous claims without any actual facts is pretty pointless in my opinion.

As stated, we have an iPad Air in the house. Fully updated and currently running 11.4 beta. Is it slower than it was when new, of course. It it still a fully functional iPad with full usage for 95% of what most people would use, most definitely.

I do actually agree with you that people should buy the newest model, IF theyd use the extra functionality (Pencil support) but otherwise the difference for most users would be negligible.

You are right I was getting my wires crossed but my personal experience with 2 older iPads is that they were both killed by an update. They are both so slow I rarely bother with them and that happened pretty much instantly after an update. There are lots of people out there with similar complaints.

It is of course the case that an older iPad with a newer IOS will run slower than the latest model, but to say a model older by one year will suffer this is complete guesswork.

As said, my household has a 4+ year old iPad Air and whilst it’s definitely not as fast as it was on day one, it does all basically tablet functionality without skipping a beat.

If someone want to browse the Internet, look at photos, watch YouTube, play the odd basic game and lots of other popular tasks the 2017 IPad 9.7 will also still be working well and be FULLY supported in 4 years time and possibly longer.

You issue may be a result of something else entirely. If particular apps being used were 32 not only, they were no longer supports after one of the recent IOS updates and this would certainly impact some devices using specific software.

Yes some tablets have issues, that is what happens when they sell 10 million of a certain device, some will always have issues, but it is far from the norm.

I have owner pretty much every iPad from initial release and most of them were kept way past 3 years without fault.
Any deals on the iPad Pro 12.7 so tempted.
Got a bit excited when I saw the trade-in option but it's post-away only so there's a good chance the 2017 models will be out of stock by the time the credit comes through, unless I'm missing something?
So my old Motorola from 2011 has a value of £0 with them

It's a real pity as the tablet has to be worth at least £10 to get a £50 voucher
How much is trade in for I pad 3. 32gb ,can someone check as wont load for me

I’m afraid you couldn’t be more wrong, I have an original iPad Air and it is still fully supported. In fact mine is signed up for beta versions of iOS and is currently running the next version.
Doesn't look like we need to include the USB/Charger either...

My iPad Air 2 32GB Wi-Fi was valued at £188 (with voucher).... will probably hold onto the voucher and spend it on a new iPad in June or iPad Pro now.

Cheers!
Does the voucher have to be spent on a tablet

As I genuinely don't see it ... thanx.
