32 GB isn't much use these days

It’s a matter of each to their own really.

I have this model with 32gb and it is fine for my needs.

Do you think the trade old tablet will work with this offer?
Have an old ipad 2
Says discount up to 6.11.2019
so should have ended I guess
10% cashback through Top Cashback with a £5 gift card plus you can do 6 months interest free. Seems a good deal to me. You can get a free case but I think using a voucher code will void the cashback

currys-ssl.cdn.dixons.com/css…pdf The T&Cs for the trade in suggests that the tablet cannot be more than 7 years old so it seems that they may not accept an iPad 2....worth a try though I suppose

How do you go about getting a free case with it?

It doesn't make that clear I've discovered but on description, it shows 4 offers available (Rodman posted screenshot) click on the link that takes you to the cases, there should be one you can add and use the voucher code 'freecase' I didn't bother as I wanted the 10% cashback and voucher use might jeperdise.

what is the advantage of buying this from JL?

2 year warranty from them. Only 2% tcb though

JL must have been added to TCB within the last year as when i bought stuff from JL prior to that I don't think they were on TCB. i think the currys 1 year warranty will be fine and better deal as you get more TCB and also someone said you can get a free case. i am tempted by this deal so will mull over it for the rest of the day.

edit - just remembered that currys may reject the cashback if you use the free case code as they tend to do this if you use any code not listed on TCB

i had miscalculated but your cashback should be 10% and that is just 1%. currys give cashback based on the price before VAT and they often reject a cashback if you have used a code not displayed on TCB so if you had used the free case code, they may reject your cashback.

You can only get Avios point as payout from JL, and before this it was BA ones.

Import from Hong Kong or similar. Cheap because of that, and because of risk of Apple not honouring warranty in the UK.

Cheapest it’s been from a bricks and mortar UK shop
Thanks, OP, great deal!! Showing as £299 on JL, and 2% Avios points cashback on TCB. Appreciate that they might price match this. However, £289 plus 10% cashback at Currys, plus 1 year free Apple TV+, makes this a better deal for me!

this has been discussed several times and apple has discretion to ask that the ipad is sent back to apple in the country of origin for repairs. if you take a grey import into an apple store in the UK, they will advise you to send it to the country of origin to claim under the international warranty. so there is a risk there.

i saw the £216 price from hightec ebay store, which i think may be what the comment was about. that is grey import from the US and doesn't come with uk plug. this is the cheapest price i have seen flagged up on hukd from a uk retailer that sells uk products and not grey import.

Yes, I brought 3. Initially tracks at a lower rate then When the merchant has checked the purchase they will uplift the cashback value to the amount offered. I'm confident you'll get the 10% which makes this a great price in my opinion.

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD, APPLE TV and HOMEPOD SERVICE.

Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and HomePod to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device

It say 'may' restrict, but it also says:

(ii) Mail-in service. If Apple determines that your Apple Product is eligible for mail-in service, Apple will send you prepaid waybills and if applicable, packaging material and instructions on how to properly pack and address your Apple product, so that you may ship your Apple Product to an ARS or AASP location. Once service is complete, the ARS or AASP location will return the Apple Product to you.

Apple will pay for shipping to and from your location if all instructions regarding the method of packaging and shipping the Apple Productare followed.

I believe the 'may' is there to cover them for devices with cellular hardware inside that may not be sold in all countries, some countries have different models sold there so it may be difficult to get you a quick replacement.

I don't think Apple will want to pay for shipping to HK and back, so there is no real reason why they will not fix it in UK.

apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ios-warranty-rest-of-apac-english.html
This the correct version, APAC being short for Asia/Pacific.

Apple don't seem to distinguish between a customer living in UK or visiting the UK.

Storage really only impacts me when I want to travel long distance without an Internet connection and need to load media offline. In those cases I've actually be able to compress content at lower resolutions to save space and stored more as a result. Not ideal given that ipad screen resolutions are very good. There is a trade off but I'd pay more for more storage. Shame that apple's prices tend to jump purely based on increase in storage. All that said, Apple make the best tablets hands down. Nothing else comes close.
