Good luck selling it in the future with your engraving LOL

Cold, ipad. Just joking

For me, the 1 & 2 aren't a long term investment due to limitations in the OS support, for browsing the web and basic streaming (Netflix and the like) it's ok, but if you can go for a later model.

What is later model than iPad Air 1 and 2?

Free engraving or 2 year guarantee? (was 3 on Wednesday)
I think thats an easy choice.

I originally bought this from JL last week for £369 on a price match from Asda, but returned it after the iPad Air 1 came down to £289 also from JL. From what I'm led to believe, there's certainly not £70 in difference between the 1 & 2 models.
Having said that, this is still the cheapest price around for the iPad Air 2, so still Heat added.

I bought this last week for £400 with a 3 year guarantee.

Does anyone know if JL will refund me the difference and if so, will I lose the 3 year guarantee?

Ring and speak to customer services, They price matched the black Friday deal 2 years ago I had bought the ipad 4, 3 weeks earlier.
I had a problem with the battery overheating and not lasting long on a charge they swapped it out (still had a couple of weeks warranty remaining). I have found John Lewis customer services are brilliant.

Seems like they bring out 2 new models a year? too much money to keep up to date imo.

My better half's iPad 4 is still going strong and seems to run all the latest games/apps ok.

Darren.

Deffo good price for the latest one

i spend a lot of time looking at both models and decided that the ipad air will do me. The air 2 is faster but in real world use there is no difference at this point in time. If apple do decide to implement multitasking then the air 2 will be better equipped for that

currys have for the same price but not with 2 years. They do however have stock of the 64gb

£370 for a iPad? Honestly more money than sense. Cold

Bought the I pad air 2 a few weeks ago from John Lewis just phoned customer services and they refunded me £30 what a great find! Thank you heat added!:p

It's cheaper than usual RRP - your personal opinion does not matter.

If you buy direct with Apple, you effectively get a two year warranty with them, due to their obligations under EU law. States as much in their terms and condtions.

There probably is. The RAM is doubled on the 2 and it's a triple core CPU rather than the dual core 1. Considering Apple charges more than £70 extra for the cellular model it looks like a bargain.

Did they tell you anything about your 3 year warranty - I assume you get to keep it?

Been this price for a few days now but problem is for the 64GB and 128GB wifi models both are out of stock online and the stores I've called have no stock either. The price doesn't matter so much when you can't actually buy one sadly!

anyone work at john lewis glasgow and willing to sort me out with a 32gb air 1?

The John Lewis warranty appears to be a joke. I bought 2 ipad minis from them last year, choosing john lewis for the extra warranty. One of the ipads developed an issue, half of the screen had gone wrong (not technically minded!!). Confident in Johgn Lewis and knowing the ipad had never been dropped or damaged I took it in. After waiting at the apple desk for 15 mins I was sent to wait somewhere else. I then saw a young man who told me that to use the apple warranty, it would have to be sent away, this would take a minumum of 4-5 weeks, he then informed me, than even though it was not accidental damage, he knew the team would say it was an charge me for the repair, he advised this would be in excess of £100!!! I was shocked!. He suggested I take it to apple to ask their advice...
I went to apple and of course had to book an appointment some 2 weeks later. Apple replaced the product free of charge and advised me the john lewis warranty was just a bribe and this happened all the time. They were absolutely happy the ipad had a fault and it was not damaged by myself.
I wont be buying apple products from john lewis just for the extra warranty!!

I can't believe the price.
its just come out, but then again i have a joke ,,,apple owner has come out too

iv got this and it's lovely. They don't say air 2 on the back so old suggest getting a gold one..

Well worth it :-)

Some help for people deciding on whether to get the Air 1 or Air 2:

I spent a good amount of time (just under 30 days) with the Air 1 and then had an overlap of about 10 days with the Air 2, and imo the Air 2 was worth the extra £70-80.

The 2GB ram did make a big difference if you like browsing a lot, the fingerprint scanner was very convenient to have and worked every time for me without fail unlike the one on the Galaxy Tab S!, the extra thinness and lighter weight is actually noticeable and I liked the upgrade there with the Air 2, however the biggest reason for me to keep the Air 2 was the screen. The Air 2 does not have that hollow plasiticky feeling screen that the Air 1 has, it does really look nice and seems like you're touching the pixels. I think it also has better colours and deeper blacks because of the non plastic/glass on top.

Plus another reason, that I didn't take into account, could be the power boost. I believe this Air 2 is quite a bit more powerful than the Air 1, so it comes with the added benefit of being a bit more future proof there.

However if none of these reasons interest you, then save some money and get the Air 1. The Air 1 is more than a capable device, and still imo beats the best Android tablets out there which I tried (Nexus 9, Galaxy Tab S (both sizes, although the screens on these tablets are easily the best on any tablet out there), Sony Xperia Z, Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition)). But again this depends on what you will be doing with your tablet.

Bought my iPad Air2 64gb £479 3 yr warranty + 3 yr accidental damage cover (£30 extra) from JL. Called in last Friday and they refunded £30 (total cost £449 + £30). So it turned out a better deal than BlackFridays deal which is 2 yr warranty and extra £85 for 3 yr accidental damage cover (total cost £534)
