On my contract it says 2GB, but some people were told 1GB... Unlimited could mean anything!!!

Original Post ----->>>>

I went into the Trafford Centre 3 store today and was enquiring about iPad price plans. I was with O2 and paying £10 for 1GB (30 day rolling contract).

I wanted to see if they could let me have a better deal than the 1GB for £7.50 micro sim. I knew there was a £5.00 standard sim to be used in a normal mobile and was about to see if I could "del boy" a deal when they said quite straightly....

"We can do you a micro sim with 2GB allowance on a 30 day rolling contract for £5.00 per month."

BEAT THAT - I thought!

So, for my first post of a deal on here, I would like to share the BEST offer on data for the iPad I can find anywhere online or in the store. Actually, they probably wont honour it online... I couldnt find a mention of it.

I can scan my contract if required. It just says "SIM Zero - Add Internet Max (data 2GB) £5.00"

Hope you benefit from this cracking deal like I have.

I'd just like to say I have ben using HotUkDeals for ages - It's nice to be able to give something back!

for a minute there I thought you meant you could get the IPAD for £5 a month, and I thought ummm well that is about right!

Shame

The basic 3G iPad is £529 everywhere, when in stock. I know people with the WiFi only, but this device really shines when you're on the back of a scooter holding the iPad out in your hand - like in the commercial. Only joking of course - BUT 3G does really make the iPad a cracking little device for... erm...for.... erm... you know its all about posing i guess.

I don't have, or need, the 3G enabled version of iPad (mine is only wifi), but I reckon that is a *very* hot price for those who need 3G!

Yeah this is a great deal... just wish I could afford the ipad now, LOL

Maybe later in the year I can justify buying one when the laptop is due for a new one.

No vote from me, deal sounds great, but anyone with an ounce of sense will not touch Three with a barge pole, worst customer service, poor 3g coverage, and everyone I know hashad billing and contract issues. Stay clear, stick with O2!!

would this sim work with mobile broadband dongles i wonder?

what do people actually use the 3g version for?

I am with O2, wife with 3. Yes the customer support sucked when I was with them but I guess it's all about the reception in areas near you etc etc. Do three UK share their 3G with O2 anyway?? I thought there was an internal roaming agreement between thre and O2 to use each others masts?

The sim comes inside a credit card sized holder to pop out. There was no "standard" sim there to use BUT I think they are available - or you could cut it to size since it's just plastic.

3 now have moved with orange and use their masts

Haha so true!!

Good deal for ipad data tho, 2gb is enough for 99% of your data needs.

Only for 2G access when there is no 3G. Doesn't matter with the iPad as its 3G only when on 3, although the device can fall back to 2G - Three don't allow it as it costs them too much money.

Just thought I should tell you that I have had 3 before and the reception was appalling. I kept getting dropped calls too. My sister tried their mobile broadband and had to cancel the contract. We live in SE London not the outer Hebrides .

aint you guys scared of getting mugged ? I wouldnt use one outside.

the 3 3g data is by far the best, only let down is customer service but saying that there just better than virgin cs lol

Hmm, I wonder if this Micro Sim, plus a Micro Sim to normal Sim card adapter + a USB Mobile Broadband stick = 2gb allowance, 1 month contract for £5, as opposed to my current PAYG £10 for 30days access with 1gb allowance.

Any suggestions? Maybe a cheap method of getting mobile broadband for pc access instead of iPad

Good deal. I got the wifi only version and use a mi-fi for when I need it out and about, but for people with the 3G version this is great

this is free and will work perfect with ipad

Three signed a network sharing deal with T-Mobile before the T-Mobile / Orange merger and I read a report saying that they have to honour that deal so three may now get access to both networks ant this is for 3G and not the 2g failover for calls.

When this is in place Three's coverage will be better than O2's.

3 currently has the highest level of 3G coverage in the UK and went live with HSDPA in September 2007. 3 currently has with full HSDPA coverage in place in north of Manchester and in London. Other UK locations will gradually be HSDPA enabled, with completion in July 2008. Until 30 June 2009, 3UK subscribers could use their service on 3 networks around the world for no extra charge (Ireland, Austria, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Hong Kong and Australia) with '3 Like Home.'

From wikipedia

3 may have the highest level but the lowest in my area! - unless you are in the City centre its totally rubbish, that said it depeneds on this deal where you will use it. still i voted hot

Shockingly good deal

^ Does anyone know? I'd love to use this in my (three) MiFi...

Got ipad in the title = hot

Good for those without an iphone.

Personally my 16gb Wi-fi only is good enough, since i can just tether it to the iPhone sitting in my pocket without having to have the extra data plan

How do you use the Internet using your iPhone? On iPad? Is there away you can do it without swapping sim??

3 has the best 3G coverage by far I have Iphone 4 and mifi not a problem and far better than my mates on O2 who struggle with 3g connections. CS is hit and miss. 2G is now using T mobile according to the 3 website. Voted hot this sim will fit in standard dongle with adapter or mifi with adapter also.

Well in iOS 4 they let iPhone 4 tether with iPad's so that your iPad can use your iPhone's data plan. Not sure if its for the older iPhone models though (you can still do it through jailbreaking too). You can find the option for tethering under the settings menu.

What an extraordinary thing to say, three has the *best* and widest 3g coverage, while ironically o2 has the worst.

I have in iphone on 02, and a mifi on three, i use my mifi for data with my o2 iphone, it is much quicker, 3g coverage is actually rare on 02.

yes, but you need a reziser, the sims are identical, it is only the bits of plastic around the side that is different. I have a plastic resizer i got from orange, try three they might be able to give you one for free..

This works very well on 3 on iphones running 3.0 firmware.

And I agree that Three are much better for internet on 3g than o2. Yes the customer services experience is much nicer with o2 but if you know what to expect from 3cs, you can't grumble for the price.

Three are not that bad good reception and prices

Have a look on the bay lots of adapters around you need to look for the micro sim to sim adapter and then you should be fine.X)

Little tip for people, a number of users over at AVF have found that if you take out the 1gb for £7.50 sim, and then ring to cancel they offer 5gb for £7.50!

Sorry, slightly off topic here. Do you know if there are any issues with warranty if I were to buy an Ipad from the states and bring it here? They seem to be about 150-200 less over there, what other issues am i likely to face (other than import duties?)

My old phone was on orange and i got perfect 3g at work. My new iphone is on o2 and its very shady. I want to use sky sports on my iphone but need a good 3g signal.

My question is do you think three work produce a good 3g signal? If it just uses o2 on 3g then it won't be work but if it uses orange then it should be good. Thanks

Also, are there any PPLs amongst you that have tried using an ipad as a kneeboard? Would google earth work accurately enough to substitute a map or a garmin? Any good aviation apps that you would recommend?

I have the 64GB 3G Ipad with the rolling monthly contract of 1GB for £7.50 per month from Three.

I have no complaints at all - good connection on the move, and the Ipad is the best product I have ever purchased! ( this is my first ever Apple product, well impressed)

Go and buy one if you can find any in stock.
