I’ve still got an iPad 4 that’s 7 years old and still working!!

Mine are ipad mini, and 3x ipad air. Maybe the pro’s are better. Mine are so slow now. I wish I kept them jailbroken and same apps no updates back on ios9 or 10

My bad. I just saw that it matched the deal price but that has obviously been changed to reflect the updated cheeky Amazon price
This is cheaper than apple as I brought mine from Apple last week....

But not as cheap as bought with educational discount, directly from Apple

How much is it with educational discount?
It’s £920.40 with the education discount.

£920.44, bit odd, don't know how they work out the price...
I got the 11 inch 256GB version the other week for £825 but decided to get the 12.9 one in the end, also with 256GB (that one is at 1015 pounds) for the screen size and the huge battery.

By the way, to anyone that was wondering, they're all 6GB of RAM this generation, compared to 3rd gen when only the 1TB models had that amount of RAM.

Yes I did use that same discount
This was £915 last week I placed an order but cancelled and order from Apple instead for £920 as it would come sooner

How are you finding the 12.9" screen? I currently have the 2nd generation Ipad Pro (10.5") and am thinking of upgrading. Its a lot of money though.

You look like a very old student

It hasn't arrived yet, but I used to have 1st gen 12.9" then nothing until getting the current 11" and it just felt too small. I got the pencil and intend to use it for drawing in Procreate and maybe some 3d modelling (homegrown game making lol). So I thought if I'm spending that much and will keep it for forseable future, I might as well get the big one and not regret it later. Having said that - I have no use for it outside home, so don't mind less portability and lack of 4G.
One thing I remembered is that on 1st gen 12.9" the battery lasted ages, so I'm hoping it is still the case. The 11" would probably need to be charged once every 2 days (3-4 hours use with the screen constantly on).

My iPad 4 is slow but we also have an Air2, a Pro 9.7 and a Pro 10.5 that we are comparing the iPad 4 to - the other 3 are much faster.

The IPad 4 is still on iOS 10 because they stopped updates but the difference we see now was also the case before so I’m not certain Apple have slowed it down a great deal.
My new iPad Pro (2020) arrives tomorrow to replace my 2018 model. Not a huge update from Apple other than a tweaked processor more memory and LIDAR camera - there is a nice performance increase in some processing tasks. 120 hertz screen refresh too! Recommend the 12.9 inch screen to everyone !
it is definitely worth shelling out for the best model you can - we are all still using iPad Air 2 some 6 years later, latest iOS and no issues at all.
My 10.5 inch pro has developed a hairline crack on the creek, never dropped, pressured anything. Really annoyed about this.. will prob buy a phablet and forget about another iPad tbh.
I’m writing this on one now. It’s the best tablet you can get but there is talk of a new one with mini-LED being released in 6 months. I couldn’t put up with an Air for another 6 months and don’t regret the purchase, even if the rumour is true.

It’s possible you could get it replaced even if it’s out of warranty. I had my 10.5 replaced twice, once due to uneven colouring on the screen and once due to phantom touches.

For the price of that extra storage you could’ve got a nice USB C connected SSD? Would that not be fast enough or is it too much hassle to carry around?
It could be. If you were thinking of buying a new iPad Pro in 6 month’s time, it might be worth holding on a bit rather than buying this model, but if you want one now, I don’t think it’s worth waiting.

I think current gen 128GB is sufficient so I might have saved money there. And yeah, I wouldn't want to carry around an external drive
