Argos eBay are selling the 2016 version of the iPad Pro 9.7inch, 32gb in Gold for £342.99 (you will have to choose Gold and 32gb storage to get this price). 1year warranty, eturns accepted within 30 days (buyer pays for return postage).

Good contender for the normal iPad 2018, which is around £300 (excluding the tobydeals and eglobal deals where you cand find the 2018 iPad for around £250).
Quick comparison:
- Pro is slightly thinner and lighter
- Pro has 4 speakers (2018 iPad has 2)
- 2018 iPad has a better processor (A10 quad-core vs A9X dual-core on the Pro)
- better cameras on the Pro plus Flash
- better display on the Pro (True Tone, fully laminated)
- both support Apple Pencil, but only Pro supports the Smart Keyboard

this vs the 2018?

Tough call. The screen is much better on this (fully laminated), it has True Tone and the camera has a flash (if you’re one of those people who takes photos with a tablet ). The 2018 should be a bit quicker and still gets the Pencil support but it feels like touching plastic, it’s nasty.

To anyone considering this you can get preowned from CeX starting at £260 (they have 128GB at £300, yes it’s pre-owned but has a 2 year warranty. I couldn’t advocate buying a nearly 3-year old iPad at this time as we haven’t even had the refresh this year yet.
A bit cheaper on tobydeals website for non pro version but 2018 and 128GB model

This

The Pro is a better machine than the budget 2018 version.
Such a tough choice. However the 32gig 2018 ipad can be had for around 250 and seen as low as 242 at some point.

Link to that

Same link as this deal, just choose the 128gb option in Gold.

The iPad Pro is a lot better than the 2018 IPad. I have the 9.7 Pro and I got my gf the 2018 iPad.

The Pro has a 12 mp main camera, 5 mp front camera, 4K video recording and 4 speakers

The 2018 has 8 mp main camera,1.2 mp front camera, 1080 video recording and 2 speakers, to name a few differences

That’ll be your loss then

using the 128gb one as we speak. Had it about 12 months or so and the only better iPad is the new 10.5” Pro (comparing closest size).

Personally buying anything from Apple (excluding a MacBook) this month seems daft to me as they're likely to announce this years updates v soon and prices would drop for 2nd hand or you can invest in the latest tech. Just IMO

All items from CeX come with 24 months warranty. I’m not a massive fan of them but there are bargains availableand they are one of the best used high-street retailers out there. iPads are pretty solid anyway so they rarely go wrong unless you smash them. At this point I would save the £100 over this deal and buy it at CeX if I were you.

I forgot to mention that the iPad Pro also has four speakers vs the 2018’s two, the sound quality from the iPad Pro’s internal speakers is exceptionally good, better than any other tablet I’ve heard, very good if you use it for music or movies.

I’d agree but Apple stuff also depreciates slower. Even the original iPad Air still sells for around £200. They are due to announce replacements soon though in time for back-to-school and Xmas most likely, we haven’t had the major refresh yet.

Doesn't this only.have 2GB of ram? The processor is only A9X running at 2.16 GHz compared to 2.26 GHz on the 12.9 inch model.

2018 A10 running at 2.34, 2GB ram
used/refurbished might not be your favourite, but on eBay you can easily find these for around £230 - I was able to buy a 128GB cellular model slightly used for £310

The 128GB Gold iPad Pro now out of stock. Price on release for that one was £639 so saving is over £240.
Pink 128Gb still available for £409.99
Grey 256GB looks good deal at £490.99

I thought you needed an office 365 subscription regardless of size on iPad for full functionality? I’ve got that on all my iPads.

Sold out for now
Typing on one of these now. The fully laminated wide colour gamut screen makes this a much better buy than the new budget iPad.

You can still get the official silicone cases for these cheap from eBay/ Amazon.

No.... although if you’re using it for “business” purposes then you should.
Can someone please tell what the difference is in terms of the pen? Would this be ok for my 3yo to draw, is that pen the same like the ones I’ve seen in apple store recently?

I know iOS uses less RAM, but in 2018, 2GB scares me. With the premier league season coming, if I've got 4 Fantasy Premier League tabs open, with they constantly have to refresh if I open other apps then come back to them?

I think you’ll be fine. The processor in this takes the brunt of workload and it’s still a beast. iPhone 7 and 8 all only have 2GB RAM and not like they slow down with 4 tabs!

There is only one type of Apple pen.
If I'm thinking of this for a digital artist, is the larger GB worth the extra cash?
Or is the cash better spent on a larger screen etc?
This is a discontinued product.

Argos? No thanks! It'll probably be an untested customer return in a tatty non-shrinkwrapped box. Argos are cheap for a reason. Ask John Lewis to price match, I did ;-)

How did you ask John Lewis to Price Match a device the currently do not sell anymore, let alone order it from them if they don't list it on their website anymore?

Agree with you to an extent MB. There's lots of information on every page though so it will always be a big heavy webpage.

My 128GB from Argos just arrived. It was still in shrinkwarp with three Argos stickers.
Looked like it had been sitting on Argos warehouse shelf for a couple of years.
Shrinkwrap was a bit missing at the corners and the iPad box slightly discoloured.
Still a great deal though

Depends what you're doing with it. Whatever you do, don't buy the 2018 iPad as the air gap makes it really inaccurate, the Pro is about the best screen and tablet experience you can get. If you can stretch to it, your best bet is the iPad Pro 10.5, it comes with 64GB out of the box and is much quicker than the Pro 9.7 as well as having 4GB RAM, a 120Hz screen (which is very low latency) and improvements elsewhere. Only concern there is that the refresh is due in a month or two, but you can go to CeX for a Pro 10.5 and basically pay the same price as this one here.

Yes, it's Rose Gold but in a case no-one will know or care and as a benefit you get the Cellular model (normally £100 more) with GPS. Example:

Yes most probably. Apple discontinued it for some good reason. Apple understood iPad pro 9.7 is useless because they designed it for engineering work.
