Cheapest bet would be to buy direct from Apple on 0% finance over 24 months and then buy a sim only deal (plenty about with 10gb for £10 a month)

36 months , you are better off wishing death upon whoever you get this to sign
36 months? Oof, Cold
£2 more gets you 20gb?
Still 36 months on a contract is terrible
This is a 3 year contract which is a long time. The data allowance is not that great and I had to return my Sky sim only deal as the reception in London was poor
2 year contracts are bad enough
absolutely eclectic phone

It seems like the best deal for it on contract.

It doesn't seem like much worse than them in terms of total costs, this deal is £26 per month for the phone over 3 years which is £936. The deals in your link is around about the same price but over a 24 month period with more data. He will mostly be using WiFi so sacrificing data for longer contact i think its not a bad deal.

Cheapest monthly maybe, but not in total, so many cheaper deals (total) if you look for 24month conteacts

That's a lot for not very much at all. Perhaps this post is a wind up to see how cold it can be voted.
brendanhickey I think its the 36 month contract that is the issue here.

Confused, as his deal is £36 a month (£26 for the phone and £10 for sim). My link is for 24 months, and includes an upfront fee but far cheaper overall. I'm not in the marketplace for a new phone and if was it wouldn't be an iPhone anyway. 36 months is far too long in the mobile space regardless.
Heat. So good. Bargain.

The deal in ur link was £46 per month for 24 month which is around £1,104

I also don't like iPhones, I normally buy my phones outright or get a pristine referb.
This is a terrible deal.
I‘m paying £36pm on a 24m contract, with 45GB data on EE for the same phone.

FYI, the link didn’t go straight to that deal for me, so it also may not have for the other user. Agreed that your deal is better than this one. Even though there’s an upfront cost, you’re out of the contract sooner.

Thanks for your help, I've showed my brother that deal. He will still be able to change if he wants that shorter contract.
36 months = 1095 days = 26280hrs . No chance, 2 years is an eternity as it is.
A o2-based 36months contraqct sure hope you still get the chance the changep hone after 24 months just as with o2 directly. But as most others commenting i wouldn't go with a 36 month deal, especially since most o2 deals are not or not much cheaper than competitors on 24months(more frequently they are much more expensive) Because also saying something good about o2/o2 based you got the credit them for the clear tariff breakdown.
Yeesh. I’ve seen more data for less a month for a whole year less. Pretty bad deal.
