Ok so looking at previous phone deals, especially for iphones, i'm not expecting much heat but if you are after an iPhone 4S then this might be worth a look.

The contract includes:
All-you-can-eat Data
2000 any network minutes
5000 texts
5000 Three-to-Three minutes

Cost:
£34 Per month
£49 Up front
24 Month contract
£160 Quidco cashback

For my workings out this works out to be a net total of £705

I thought that was a good figure for a contract which appears to be pretty comprehensive of data, calls and texts. Some of my friends have gone through Three for an iPhone, they are very happy and received their Cashback after a couple of months.

Not bad price for a phone that is due to be replaced soonish.

And it doesn't bounce as well as the SGS2.

It's classed as one of the best commercially available smartphones on the planet.
Or you could upgrade your iPhone 4 to a 4S or only $0.99 here!
Dial-A-Phone offer it on O2 for a couple of quid extra (when you take the £50 cashback via Quidco)

Worth the small difference for better network coverage imho

As this is the One Plan, then you can TETHER for free as well on 3. They don't advertise it but I've had it for a year now. Done up to 30GB a month perfectly fine.

* Tether means you can connect it to a laptop/iPad over wifi hotspot or cable and use the unlimited data 3G as your internet connection.
is this phone better than my 1st gen iphone? still works great but not sure if i need to upgrade yet

Any guides available on how to do this?

Yes its better, but if you happy with what you got and it works great as you say why upgrade. You might as well wait for iphone 5 this year

Yes, its called Google
Unlike most of these contract offers this is a decent package. This is still a stupid amount of money for a phone that is being upgraded in 6 Months imo. My main issue is that the sg2 is a better phone and half the price without contract.

"better" is very subjective tho.
Some people prefer iOS over android OS it really depends on what you want to do with it, the iphone is certainly the "classier" for want of a better term built phone, and it fits in the pocket far easier.

the S2 has a huge screen and a little more grunt, and is more flexible.

different strokes, and frankly I would happily use either of them.

Also even the packages being decent really depends on what you want. I bagged a free HTC desire S (thanks to here) on launch, with £95 quid cash back at £13.50 a month, 50 mins, 250 texts and 100mb a month with O2.

for most people these days this contract would fall short in just about every area, however for me, someone who spent under £10 a month PAYG it was perfect and was the perfect way to get on the smart phone band wagon.

once in that time I have gone over my usage allowance of texts, and never done the minutes or the data (everywhere i go generally i have wifi and i phone people mostly on the landline)

I loved my desire S until it was nicked, but i digress.

I use the all you can eat data to tether my netbook most evenings as I work away 3-4 nights a week its ideal and it is properly all you can eat. To tether just plug your iPhone cable into the laptop and turn on hotspot from the setting menu (also works over wifi and Bluetooth)
£705...
Actually its a myth the 4s is smaller or better in the pocket. its not as long or as wide as the screen is much smaller. But its also much thicker and heavier which means in real us the sg2 is a more comfortable phone to use and carry. The sg2 is a more powerful and much better phone for media thanks to the bigger screen and ability to play all media types and even dnla stream to and from to phone. YOu can even plug in a usb stick and play back media using a usb host cable. It also works with most of the premium bluetooth factor kits on cars pre 2011 unlike the iphone.

As for build quality and looks sure the iphone wins there in most peoples eyes although the sg2 is a very good looking and well made phone against pretty much any other brand.

At the end of the day its a 2 year contract and its twice the price. You have to make your own choices. £700 for a phone that is being superceeded in 6 months is a fair amount of money though.
make it £25 and i'm in.

As far as I know his is in their conditions, so is all above board. I am empted to get a One Plan deal because of this. I have actually just posted a deal about the Galaxy S II on the Ultimate Plan (Three) for £25 a month, £29 up front (24 monhs)... but I dont think the Ulimate plan allows tethering...The One Plan for Galaxy S II is on for £29 a month, which aint bad at all...

Quidco is giving £160 on all One Plan deals... I am very interesed... which is the best deal folks ???

I think the 4s JUST because I have Sky Sports app

Galaxy S II for £29 upfront, £29 a month on One plan (£160 cash back on Quidco)...

Genuinely interested, may go for he 4s as I have the sky sports app (only £5 a month at the moment)

(Sorry, slow system, duplicate info)

Everyone seems to be comparing this phone to the S2 but forgetting to mention that the S3 will be released next week which will have a 1.4GHz quad core processor, and likely to be around the same price as this come June...

This is hot for a 4S though, a lot more user friendly so if you don't have much technical knowledge and want something easy and simple to use this is a good deal.

Voted hot for the price but I would stay clear of 3. Customer service is a joke and very unhelpful.
4s is thinner than the s2 at the thickest point.

the iphone screen isnt small, its perfect for reaching the furthest corner with your thumb and holding the phone in one hand without adjusting.

I guess it depends where you live as to who is best coverage wise.

phone also has a lot to do with it.
One thing maybe to bear in mind here is also tha resale cost of the phone. I've had my iPhone 4 for almost two years and I can still sell it for over £300. Something to bear in mind when looking at the total cost
Heat added.

And, on every other phone and contract advertised on here recently that I recall, the total price is what is given, not one month's rental.

Please repeat that in October when the iPhone5 is launched (_;)

Anyways, this is a pretty great tariff for one of the best phones on the market at this minute!

Heat added but would suggest holding out to see next weeks offerings of the S3, might be an interesting one!

They're miles better than they used to be a few years ago.

The Indian customer service people understand English better and are a lot more helpful

3 UK also have two Twitter accounts, @ThreeUKSupport and @ThreeUK, both of which are fast and helpful

The whole '3's customer services are crap' is a cliche from several years ago

This is a really good point. If you cost handsets up by depreciation, it works out much more favourable. I'm using Three for data, and it's rock solid.
