Three are advertising this on their site at £27pm plus £99 up front for handset or £31pm without an up front cost. I spoke to their sales team and was offered the Iphone 5 at £28pm with a free handset, on a 24 month deal. I've signed up to this for my daughter as it's the best deal I could find. If anyone knows better, let me know quick while I'm in the cooling off period - the phone isn't delivered until Thursday.
Don't want to spark any Apple debates - my daughter did her research and I'm not qualified to argue about handsets, given my own brick...!

Total cost £672 over two years

The deal I got was £28pm with free handset - so £3pm (or £72 over the contract period) cheaper than the £31 deal.

I think you've undersold yourself a little? Your not making it immediately clear in title and first line that you're getting the phone for free? Really good find!

Pretty sure this is not too bad a deal.
I've awaiting arrival of a sim only deal from 3 with everything you've listed but another 100mins so whilst mine is a 30 day contract, assuming you can get a 12m contract like mine for circa £13.00 [longer contracts are always much cheaper than 30d], your phone would work out at around £420.00?
16GB phone I guess?

Good point - I've edited.

Good deal, take it.

What number did you call to get this deal

Just the 0800 one on their site. Got their Glasgow call centre and they couldn't have been more helpful.

If the free handset is not a one off then the deal is circa the same as my sim only deal plus £320.00 for a phone that would cost £499.00 from the apple store, albeit unlocked.
Very good for a superb handset.

Same as the refurb deal on three-clearance, make sure you phone is brand new when you get it.

She made no mention of it not being new, so I'll be straight on to them if not. But her customer service seemed refreshingly good so I'm sure it will be ok.

why not buy online and use TCB for some extra cashback..

Explain how.
I'm not great with maths, but last time I checked, 31 was MORE than 28

Cos online price is £31 not £28pm. But if you can get more than £72 cashback, then you're right that would be cheaper (if the cashback was guaranteed!)

What tariff exactly? Teathering excluded?

I don't often vote for iPhone deals - classically overpriced - but this is genuinely hot!

No tethering on ultimate internet 500, but you can pay £5 a

Month, for 1gb as and when required

Check the above link. How about getting an iphone5 for £389.99 with a bit of "hacking" and use a PAYG SIM such as Giffgaff £12 w/ unlimited data? So you won't be locked to a service provider for too long.

This deal is for the 16gb only which is not good enough.
For such a nice phone you don't want limitations in memory.
If its 3 your after you can buy a used boxed 64gb iPhone 5 with a long warranty off eBay for £450.
When received take your handset into Apple and swap for a new one under warranty.
Their customer service is that good!
Sim only plans are readily available cheapest iv seen totalled to £120 over 12months.
Pay monthly deals are a total rip off and take advantage of us.

How many gb is this? 8, 16, 32, 64?

Please explain to me how this phone is "free" ?

Beware of 3's signal though. I've never had it but my friend never has signal and is always complaining about 3G coverage.

Not particularly interested myself but voted hot to cancel out your mistake

O2 refresh have agood deal if you work for a company where you get open discount. I got iPhone 5, unlimited mins and texts. 1gb data. With discount it works out at £26.90 a month. They also give £20. The beauty about O2 refresh you are not tied into any contract, you can pay the £360 off for the phone and walk away any time.

You can buy an iphone 5 for £300 and get a monthly sim for £15 a month with everything unlimited.
£660 total works out almost the same but you get unlimited minutes.

Good deal. 3 doesn't work where I live otherwise I would use them as they have some good deals.

3 has had the best signal by far in my experience. O2 is AWFUL signal

Bit slow on the old aps these days though !.

Recent "which" report shows iPhone 5 to be a lot slower than most other high end phones. Soundly beaten by HTC one, Sony Experia something, blackberry model I can't remember, and smashed by Samsung s4, like twice as fast. So should be half this price!

And yet, speaking as an Android user, the Apple app store is far superior at the moment, so you make your choice on hardware vs software, I suppose.

Strangely, the app isn't giving me the option to add heat to this deal. I can with all the others.

Get a GRIP!!!!

most of us know this - do you really think people buy the Iphone because they think its the fastest!

Secondly, try reading the report and not some daily mail cak article - the tests were like "editing a picture" - i dont know know about you but have you tried editing a picture on a phone. Other tests where slanted also.

The only problem with three is that they don't have any 2g coverage and will struggle in buildings etc as it runs at a different MHz to all the other providers but when you do have signal there speeds are rapid

1 How is this 'circa the same'?
2 Not everyone has a spare £389.99 upfront.
3 giffgaff £12 is half the any network minutes.
4 Generally you would need a service provider to be able to use the full potential of any smartphone nowadays.
5 Not everyone would want to lose a warranty on a such an expensive item by "hacking" it either.
Need I go on

Ive heard that myth about the app store.... android apps will run on most devices from htc, sony, samsung, motorola, etc so any investment in android apps, is not lost when changing hardware brands... unlike apple where you kinda stuck

Agree with this. Switched from 3 to O2 and regret it, though 3 made it very difficult to leave

If you actually used an iPhone 5 and then tried the other phones you'll find that mobile benchmarks are essentially meaningless and the iPhone 5 feels faster in every aspect of using it.
