Might get to freezing cold as its an iPhone deal. But seems like a good deal for me and it might help some one.

I was looking for a iPhone5 for the other half this came up. As the title says iPhone 5 32 gb on O2 refresh. Select the first option which is £29.99 upfront and £38 per month (£10 for phone + £28 for air time). Once you get the phone, cancel the airtime contract and pay off £240 for the phone. You have a not so bad iPhone 5 32gb phone in your packet. before cancelling the contract remember to unlock it for free.

Thanks

actually...if you're in the market for a longphone 5, it's prob not too bad

So you cancel £28 airtime and payoff the £10 contract which is the £240 you are paying. How can this work. The price of the phone on its own is £330.

Ooh will look into thanks op

@danib and Rimi,

O2 refresh has been discussed in HUKD so many times and it is possible. Just confirmed by contacting costumer care

thanks

Quick chat with O2 and reality is:
Can cancel the contract within 14 days- must return iPhone and pay for whatever you used
Cancel later than 14 days - you pay for remaining contract and full price for iPhone
Not a deal -COLD!

I am sure you cannot cancel the airtime contract - you are binded for the … I am sure you cannot cancel the airtime contract - you are binded for the 24 months.

WHY? You contacted O2?

So, anyone know for certain whether you can cancel the airtime and pay off the phone? Not looking to get into another argument with another network.

Tried this cheat last month- ended up in returning phone as O2 asked to pay FULL MARKET PRICE of £329 for refurbished iPhone 5 and wanted to get paid for 24 months contract.

If you couldn't cancel it, why would it be Refresh?

r they doing similar like o2? they allow upgrading the phone but not cancel the airtime in the middle of contract..

i meant tesco sorry not o2

This is what i am getting

You: I am trying to order an iPhone 5 refresh
You: its £29.99 up front
You: £10.00 phone cost per month
You: and £28.00 air time
You: if i cancel the contract lets in 2nd month how much do i have to pay?
You: lets say*
You: is it 10*23?
You: or £38*23
Joshua: You'll pay remaning phone plan and not the complete contract cost.
You: which is 23*10 right?
Joshua: That's right.
You: can i leave o2 after that? or is it necessary to stay with o2?
Joshua: You can leave o2 after that as you'll pay the complete phone plan so you're not tied up in a contract and the phone is yours.
You: ok

I'd actually go for the 64GB version for only £20 more. A 64GB iPhone 5 for £290 isn't bad at all.

That's completely wrong.

I've done this twice, with the iPhone 5 7 months ago and the Lumia 925 1 month ago.

The plan is split in two - the phone plan and the airtime plan.

When you leave, you have to pay the phone plan in full, but not the airtime plan.

O2 FAQ - 'Once you've signed up' section.

Can I settle my credit agreement early?
Yes. You can settle your credit agreement partially or in full at any time by giving us notice and making a payment on your Phone Plan. If you wish to settle early you should contact us on 202 free from your mobile for a final settlement figure and we can take your payment over the phone.

What if I want to leave O2 and end my O2 Refresh plan?
You just need to pay off whatever's left on your Phone Plan. Then you can either sign up to a new plan, or leave O2. If you'd like to leave O2, after you pay off your Phone Plan, ask us for your PAC code or give us notice to cancel your account.

Just got this to replace the 16gb I got from the refresh deal last time, how long do you need to keep the airtime contract in order to get the quidco?

Becareful, I am an iphone person but the iphone 5 is shocking. It drops calls all the time i have had 3 now and all the same. The iphone 4 and below were fine so think before agreeing to a 24 month contract. I will be trying android next upgrade.

I have done this and it works mate.

Sorry I was mistaken by saying "not possible to cancel the airtime contract" (have removed my post above). I have just spoken to O2 and was told you can leave the airtime contact because the credit agreement is only for the phone. However still confused. Can someone answer the below:
Does this refurbish phone come in its original box ? Once I take delivery: should request unlock, and then call in to pay rest of phone plan & cancel the airtime contract entirely. Is that all ??

So total for the phone (16gb) is: 240 + 29.99 = £270 ??

I've had my iphone 5 since November 2012 and that has never happened, nor have I heard reports of this from any of my friends who use the 5. Strange.

I also did this last time got my iphone 5 for £240 £10x 24 months just cancled the airtime after getting the phone and paying off the phone

will cancellation have any impact on credit score???

The only place my phone drops calls is in my house step out side and its fine or stand next to back door

No, it will show as a cleared debt, in my eyes that is a good thing.

it seems that iPhone 5's 4G works only on EE network

does 4g works on iphone5?

edit = whoops. thx mats123. Well, thats too bad cos we all know 3 is much cheaper than EE when it comes to 4g or any mobile broadband technology.

Anyone know how much Apple warranty this will have? Is it going to be different for each phone, or do they reset the warranty to 12 months when it's sold as refurbished?

Guys- it's a great deal . You can indeed repay the phone plan anytime you want ! And cancel the airtime .
Been there done that .

The refurbs from the previous deal in summer came with full 12 month apple warranted both then O2 told apple to reset them and mines and most others ran out in 6 months ie December so there's no saying how long if they will at all have the original apple warranty. Both mines came on a plain O2 box with manual charger headphones, phone looked brand new. Apart from the screen going weird around December and apple replacing it for free I've not had any trouble with mine, the battery is quite short however I usually only get about 7/8 hours use. 3's 4G will work on this phone in certain area mainly cities as rural areas use a different band that the iPhone 5 doesn't support but it supports the 1800 MHz 4g band which 3 uses in certain locations.

Will these come in original Apple boxes ?

danib

Highly unlikely. Usually come in a small O2 branded box.

Everytime I've heard such anomolies with new iphones, it's almost always down to the back up that was made on the older phone and being restored to the new one/

I just got a iphone 5S and the battery was draining after 5 hours, the user interface was lagging and the GPS was only working occasionally. I restored the phone to factory settings (without my backup imposed upon it basically) and it ran perfectly fine.

I put my back up file from the 4S onto it again and the same symptoms came back.

I ended up copying over my messages, contacts and springboard layout over SSH (via a jailbreak) in order to get my data over to the new phone and it's been excellent since.

I know that you can do these things on an android phone by rooting it and it is easier but I'm still fond of the iphone.

I use an Android device occasionally to remind myself why I'm sticking with the iphone but it's a healthy curiosity of if Android now delivers what I want or not rather than phone snobbery - I'd love to pay less for the device going forward

4 of my family members own the iPhone 5 and have never had an issue, I'd take the iPhone back to Apple if I was you.

I'd have grabbed one had it been the black version, personally am not a fan of the white. Hot deal.

Do you not have to pay the first month of the contract, i.e. total costs - £29.99 + £28 + £240 = 297.99??

What's a longphone? Isnt that the iPhone 6? Coz all they'll do is add another row of icons again.

Very good deal. If I hadn't changed from a iphone 3GS to a Motorola Moto G last week I would have bought this. However must admit very impressed with my new phone and dont feel the need to have an iphone anymore.
Though I am not giving up my ipad Air - yet.
