if you don't want to wait, you can get an unlock code from ebay under £3 - Link
Due to anything older than the iPhone 6s/SE only having 1gb ram, these things might start to seriously slow down soon.

There’s already apps/games that need a 6s or above, Fortnight is one of them.
Good deal, though I would really recommend the small amount extra for a 6s as the speed difference in day to day use is significant.

Nope. Not true. On-device unlock hasn't existed since the last jailbreak mod about 8 years ago. It could never be done remotely as it required a PC or Mac to jailbreak and then run the software (such as Yellowsn0w) and as far as I know the last device to work with it was an iPhone 4 on 5.0. It basically spoofed the iPhone into reporting the installed SIM as an accepted SIM (usually O2 in the case of the UK, as they had exclusively for a while).
All successful unlocks are subsidy unlocks done via the network themselves (or some possibly more convoluted means) but the end result is that Apple's activation servers are told to list the phone as unlocked and from that point the software on the phone is irrelevant.

Updated the comment above.
The iPhone 6S or SE should have 2.5 years left of support, whereas this 6 only has 1.5 year's support left. I don't think this is much of a deal. 64GB 6S's aren't much more at £155 or £176 for 128GB.

So you think it's safe to buy a used iPhone I'm terms of getting a genuine network unlock? Seems as though the networks ask a lot of questions before they are happy to go ahead..

I'm not saying it's 'safe' as such, as there are no guarantees. I was just saying that technically speaking an unlocked iPhone should stay unlocked. The way I see it there are a few reasons that you might not get a phone unlocked
- the phone is not old enough or has not been used on the network long enough to conform to their unlocking terms
- the phone is internally blacklisted (original owner has defaulted on payments but the phone isn't yet fully blacklisted such that it would show up on Checkmend)
- network is a stickler for original owner requesting unlock.
If you want a refurb I'd go for the 6s as others have said. Doing that also allows you to get a £25 new replacement battery from Apple which should make the phone run like new (for a while(flirt) )

My 6s 64GB was about the same price and arrived today. Generally decent condition but one scratch on the screen which you can still see after fitting a glass screen protector. Was wondering about returning it - but just found it's eligible for a free battery replacement - so definitely keeping it. Also took my old 6 in for a £25 replacement battery today, but that turned out to be free as well. Result all round I reckon.
Yes and all the ones I found take at least 30 days, you said your link could be done without waiting which was obviously wrong.
Doesn’t matter now anyway as I’ve just bought a 6s unlocked, cost a bit more but at least it will play all available apps available now unlike this.
Listen, bottom line, iphones is what I do so here’s the blunt of it as already said. If you are not a Vodafone customer you need to obtain a sim, put it in and leave for 30 days until requesting an unlock .

Where did you get that from? I’ve just ordered the unlocked 6s 64gb but it was £179.99 after discount.
