TIP: always get these items delivered to your home address. Smaller chance of paying import taxes. I have been buying Chinese mobiles for the last 4 years, and the tip works.

3G will work on all UK networks:

2G GSM have 4 bands in the world (For Mobile phones)

900 MHz used by O2 and Vodafone

1800 MHz used by Orange, T-mobile (Now EE), O2 and Vodafone

850 MHz, 1900 MHz bands are used in USA, Canada and some South American Countries only. (Also CDMA (Code division multiple access) which is another frequency completely different to GSM)

3G UMTS has 5 Bands I know that I used for Mobile phones

900 MHz is currently been used by O2 and Vodafone

2100 MHz is used by all the UK carriers

850 MHz, 1700 MHz and 1900 MHz are again bands that are used in USA, Canada and some South American Countries only. (And again enhanced CDMA (CDMA 2000) another difference to UMTS)

eh? lol

Bought a blackview crown with similar specs for £102 from Coolicool. Took 3 weeks but
finally got it. fast phone and specs are brilliant. The risk of customs is there and so be prepared to
pay £28 if it gets stopped. £20 for the customs and £8 Royal Mail. Coolicool and afew others have
european warehouse and so you would avoid that risk.

Very happy with my first Chinese smartphone.

Low built in memory, no 4G.
BUT..Still not bad as a cheapo Android phone.

it can take 64GB Micro SD card... so not bad, considering the iPhone 6 has 16gb and can't increase that

Bushes

Which operators would it work with then?

They all use 2100. Some also use 900 as an additional band. Mostly to cover busy areas. As a percentage of their transmitters I think Vodafone and o2 have the most. Im not aware of anywhere that only uses 900.

Also worth noting is the GPS built into the MT6592 isnt fantastic.

Cubot X9 is indeed a very good phone!

Some of the goods points compared to iphone 6 are:

Metallic body compared to Aluminium alloy/Glass

Dual SIM (Micro & Nano) compared to only Nano SIM

8 CPU Cores compared to only 2 Cores

2 GB RAM compared to only 1 GB

Higher pixel resolution of 4.92 MP for the secondary camera compared to 1.23 MP

Radio facility compared to none

Micro-USB compared to none

O-T-G connector compared to none

Higher battery capacity of 2200 mAh compared to 1810 mAh

Higher standby times for both 2G and 3G

In addition, all of this comes at a fraction of a cost compared to iphone 6 so it certainly IS a bargain. However, don't forget that the supplier is Hong-Kong based and you are 'liable' to pay (if detected by UK customs) full Import duty + VAT + Clearing fees that might bring the total cost close to £140-150.

I am using Tmobile (virgin) 3G and Vodaphone on my dual sim Blackview Crown and both work fine.

Many operators including Vodafone and O2 have moved a lot of their 3g services to 900mhz due to its better building penetration. Therefore if you live in an area with only a 900mhz transmitter you will not get 3g. fact! Be careful.
Always go for 900/2100 if buying a Chinese phone. Lenovo phones all work well

punkthemonk

Correct they do all use 2100
But in some areas they only use 900 (Vodafone, O2) if you use your phone in an area that only has a 900 transmitter you will not get 3g.
To be on the safe side make sure the phone WCDMA covers 900/2100
Lenovo is a popular Chinese brand that covers this range

i would advise against all Cubot phones. i got one from Amazon... i ignored all the bad review... phone came and couldnt use the internet unless connected to my wifi. recently got an email from Amazon telling me to throw away the charger as they seemed to be catching fire by themselves!!!!! trust me... this company's phones are rubbish! looks really can be decieving!

Which South American countries does this phone work in? I'm only visiting Brazil, Peru, Bolivia & Argentina.

This is about Cubot X9 and not any other or all Cubot phones. Your generic allegations seem to have no proof at all. If only you could show us the so-called 'throw away the charger' email from amazon

What are these Mediatek MTK6592 Chipsets's actually like, say compared to Qualcomm's or Samsung's offerings.
Regarding the charger, I never use the USB charger with cheap stuff, especially Chinese. Think the charger is a moot point at this price.

Hello,

We e-mailed you recently to advise you that the plug provided with your Unlocked Cubot P6 5.0 inch 3G Smartphone Android 4.2 OS MTK6572W Dual Core 4GB ROM Dual SIM Dual Standby SIM-Free 3G android mobile phone 1.2GHZ WIFI GPS Bluetooth 8.0MP+5.0MP Camera Ebook Gmail Phablet (White) which you bought in order #204-8800319-2540366, might be unsafe and that you should stop using it.

The suggestion in the previous e-mail that you should contact the Seller didn't provide clear instructions of how to do so and we apologise for any confusion this has caused. There's no need for you to contact your Seller directly, instead we've made available a £10 credit to your Amazon.co.uk account to cover the cost of ordering a replacement adaptor. Just reply to this e-mail to let us know that you'd like the credit and we'll apply it to your account within 2 business days.

Hello folks.

Please remember that the some Chinese mobiles that are not made for UK retail sale like iPhone or others that have standards - have different specs, that include a lead content not satisfactory for uk health standards. It's a free world you know what you're doing, but please don't let your kids use these phones.

work noting focal price give 6% cashback on the USA topcashback (topcashback.com) have to set an account have done this 4 times now (always paid in dollars and shipped to UK) and has paid out every time

6% back with topcashback USA account

af191

has anybody actually bought one yet?

Did buy another model.... absolutely useless!!! Does not connect to the internet unless connected to WiFi... lots of people posted reviews on Amazon saying the same thing with many models... however, after the fire incident, Amazon removed ALL Cubot phones from the website!!! I would advise you to try and read all the reviews you can find on Amazon for this company's phones... might give you a better idea of what you are buying.

Its not about being smart but about not spreading baseless rumours.

First of all, your link has nothing specific against Cubot X9 the phone!

Secondly, all amazon sites (.co.uk / .com / .fr / .de / .it / .es) are selling various models of Cubot phones. The Amazon Corporation functions as a group of companies and any decision to not sell a particular product is worldwide. If I were to take your link or peterborough's allegations as true, we wouldn't have seen any Cubot phone on sale at Amazon!

thl t6 pro has similar specs and can be had from UK sellers on amazon/eBay for £80

Stay clear of a Focal price. I made the mistake of buying from them and it was money down the drain. Trying to get them to do anything is a waste of time. Communications nightmare - don't do it.
