Depends how how many "unnecessary" updates apple idiots so doesn't it? I'm still rocking my iPhone SE with firmware iOS 933 it came with. If it's not broke don't fix it. Apple updates slow down devices over time and mess up battery life I should know that

That's what "no up front cost" tends to mean:s

£38 * 24 = £912 to make you feel you have got the "second best option" hmmm Not sure about it .

personally i would wait for iphone X

But then again i am looking for Value and value is in S8 or S8 + at the moment.

leaving this one for apple fanboys (no idsrespect i own apple Ipad and Apple tv )

iPhone X is fugly! That premium looks iPhones once had ended on the SE. iPhone X looks awful with just the ear piece filled in. Never seen Apple so desperate either... iPhone X is the only iPhone I've ever seen that needs billboard marketing Steve jobs would be turning in this grave seeing the iPhone X

Give over, updates aren't going to be the deciding factor on whether a battery lasts 3 years. It will simply come down to how heavily it's used. I get the reason why some may not want to update but updating certainly doesn't make you an idiot either.

Wouldn't buy the iPhone 8 or 8 plus and certainly not the X. Got an iPhone 7 at the minute and the only iPhone I'd be interested in buying now is the 7 plus if there was a good deal.

I don't agree that the iPhone X is 'fugly', it does look good. However, I do agree that the 5S/SE is still the best looking iPhone they've made.

Maybe you should know that, but if you haven't updated past iOS 9.3.3 how would you? Shame you're rocking a phone that's susceptible to all the security vulnerabilities and bugs discovered since July 2016.

Rather that than a slow a$$ iPhone bloated with unnecessary apps that bloat your iPhone and make it slow . Old iPhone 4s that I've recently sold was rocking iOS 6. And it was beautiful sold it on eBay and had £200 for it being rare and last of Jobs legacy.

Type "iphone billboard" into Google Image search and you'll see Apple has advertised almost every iPhone with billboard marketing going back years...

Why you sending me links to delete apps? That doesn't slow down phone performance the updates do. Have a look for yourself and have a look at all the extra crap they put in them via
ipsw.me
. Not gonna slow down my phone. Blocked site settings via router too so cannot update while plugged in charging. Anyone who doesn't realise your phone slows down as old hardware gets new software updates is an idiot and you'll see every update gets bigger and bigger bloated with rubbish. I've worked in high street phone shops and the amount of people who update and then wish they hadn't or complain all the time about it is beyond... Stick by the old saying "if it's not broke don't fix it" couldn't care about "security" iPhone 4s was on iOS 6 in 2017 nothing once happened to me and because it was rare someone bought it for £200 on eBay. Software updates, yes, but not iOS updates, as proven in that Guardian article I linked to. Blame the third-party app developers for adding more and more bloat to their apps. Just look how much bigger the most popular apps have become in the last 4 years:

32343899-r7SnR.jpg
If you use any of these, it's no wonder your phone feels slower.

But the phone isn't actually any slower than when you bought it. I mean, the chips don't get slower with age, but the software running on it gets slower as more features are added.

You'd probably like an Android phone - you don't have to worry about getting OS updates with them, as most come with old software and never receive an update after you've bought it!!

What the hell have apps gotta do with anything? doing a full system factory reset and putting iOS 8 against iOS 11 on a iPhone 5s would show you that the iPhone 5s is fastest on iOS 8! Stock apps like camera even operate slower watch a speed test video on you tube iOS 11 vs iOS 9 or something and you'll see for yourself

If you read your post it certainly does not say it sold for £200 BECAUSE it had IOS6 it says it was Rocking IOS6 and was rare.
I think you are probably lying about getting £200 quid for an old iphone - given the ease with which you can get that ....but I also dont care.

I already thought you were a total to$$er from all your early comments but you confirmed it...well done!

I hope you get an attack through your security holes you have chosen to leave open because you are sooooo clever (and qualified opinion by working in "loadsa Phone shops" lose all you data and get you financials compromised.

Now wheres that ignore button on the new site!

"I hope you get an attack through your security holes"

Classic windows 95 insult

people lets get to the task in hand, instead of endless debates of what phone is better . this is a deals website and should be discussing whether this is a feasible deal or not.

there is another option that is not really discussed and that is buying the phone yourself upfront and getting a SIM only.

if we used this as a comparison, this is what my calculations say:

£38 pm x 36 months = £1368

if we remove the £699 upfront cost of the phone your left with £669. we divide that by 36 months and the monthly tariff will be £18.58.

so the question is whether £18.58 is a good deal for 5000 minutes, unlimited texts and 40gb data.

if you didn't want to be tied in over 3 years they offer 2 year option

£52 x 36 = £1248

remove the £699 upfront phone cost and you are left with £549

£549 divided by 24 months gives us £22.87

obviously you need to read the T's & C's as each company provide different benefits.

it does say the roll over unused data, but unclear if the 5000 minutes is cross network. (can't assume)

having checked all this, I think its the best deal so far! I'm not in a hurry to upgrade but the 40gb data is what gives the value.

you could buy the phone outright and find a SIM only deal, but would you get a sim only deal that could give you this amount of data. without data minutes smartphones are useless and costly

hope this helps

Ignore button because you've been sat down and made to look like a tool? I mentioned ios 6 and was rare so assumed you've would of known that was the sole reason it sold for that amount.

I also elaborated that it was last "of jobs legacy" you know who Steve jobs even is? Lol. I had ios6 from 2012 to 2017 and nothing ever happened to me. How would people even know in public im venreable to attacks? What could they actually do? Just accept ios updates have bigger memory and I've already asked u to look up speed tests and you've failed to reply as u know what I'm saying is true!

As for lying about the price, check it price on ebay you tit
