So here is a Vodafone deal for an iPhone 8 with 20GB of data, 12 Months - Here's the catch - I get that it's £629 upfront so it will be a niche deal and not everyone has the that much cash to put down on an 8 but you can't beat a 12 month contract.

Hot from me.... phone alone worth £999 roughly.... from Apple store

But phone is only £699 Sim Free from Carphone Warehouse?

May be better off buying the phone and getting a better sim only deal elsewhere.

Hot from me (and that's coming from an Android fan).

Not too keen on Vodafone, but a great price.

Also some people like NHS and other large companies (mine being one of them) get 20% off with Vodafone so worth checking if your company is one on the list).

Unfortunately the VEA discount is now only 15% for NHS staff

I've gone onto the chat with the Vodafone people twice in the last few days, and the lack of any tangible upgrade offers is what's keeping me from going for the new phone at present. No incentive really. I'll hang back and wait a few months to see what happens, and once supplies are better.

Getting a 256Gb 8 Plus with a £17/month 8Gb data deal would be cheaper from CPW if happy to pay upfront for the phone, but without the entertainment package, albeit with no locked phone of course.

Can't check what the interest free option from Apple was with their annual upgrade programme at present due to reservations being closed off until 23/9. Obviously the advantage there is the inclusive Applecare and being interest free of course. May as well see what the X options turn out to be, but not 100% sold on the phone yet.

Its not 20% anymore 15% phone contracts or 30% sim only and it doesn't work if you purchase from anyone other than Vodafone. I also find Vodafone very conveniently have deals on all their sim only making the VEA discount really useless. the 20Gb for £20 apparently already included a 40% discount lol.
Cold from me.... simm free worth £699 which I would be better off with plus a good simo deal
Very expensive cell phone!
Buy the phone outright for £699 get the same Voda contract but sim only with the £99 cashback deal from mobiles.co.uk.

Boom £29 better off

The 15% is only on the month price, so £20, not the upfront cost.

Also Vodafone discount is only applicable on Vodafone website, not 3rd parties like carphone warehouse or mobile.com
Surely buying the phone SIM free, then getting a cheap SIM only deal would make more sense? Especially with the huge upfront cost.

Is this phone even worth the £700 price tag? It's barely any different to the iPhone 7, which itself was barely any different to the iPhone 6S. It seems like they only released the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus because they knew they couldn't make enough iPhone X handsets to satisfy demand.

A bit like the XZ1. And I can see where Sony got its pricing, £500 looking cheap, even with a cheap screen too.
However the 8 Plus goes to a whopping 1080p, and they both get to keep the fingerprint reader, so no abandoned failed production features with this one.
And after the year is up you have a "lesser" phone - not an "X" - that is out of warranty (Apple say a 2 year warranty would be too expensive for themh. So they don't seem to have much confidence it it lasting much beyond a year) and will be superceded by a new model - or two.
It sounds a lot for something that won't last. But if you're a fan, you're a fan!

At least you get the new Apple GPU, a none Imagination one means support will be longer than the 7.

I knew that bit, but it's still something off.

Did not realise about it going down to 15% though as my wife signed up just over a year ago and got the 20% for the company I work for, but I guess it could have changed for NHS or even others in that time.
