If you have an Iphone on contract with Vodafone and want it unlocking to any network call customer services (191) ask them to unlock your phone, if you have had you contract over 12 months they will do this for FREE, If under 12 months it 19.99, good deal as people are charging upto £40 do unlock Iphone's

I've had 4 phones unlocked by Vodafone last year. I had a 12 month contract but each time I told them I changed phones so each time they did it. Some of the operators weren't willing to do it but I just hung up and tried again!! I usually found the operators in the foreign countries most willing to do it rather than the UK based ones. But it didn't cost me a penny each time!!

You can just go instore as well, its supposed to be free on contract at any time.

Much better than the scum bags at T-Mobile!

A$$ h*les won't unlock my phone for me as I "didn't buy my iphone" from them, they won't accept that I changed my phone.

Good find for Vodafone!

Wish I had my iphone on Vodafone :/, Any method of cheap unlocking for orange/tmobile?

Alternatively fill out this web form;

Saves the bother of ringing!

I got mine unlocked from Vodafone in the third month of my 24 month iPhone 5 contract. Just told them I was travelling abroad and would need to put a local sim on my phone and they did it for free

They used to be free at any time in the contract but the idiots changed it to £19.99 for under 12 months and free after that.

Anyone thinking Vodafone will just unlock it easily are mistaken. You have to have been the first purchaser of the phone. Buy a phone second hand or even new ones from eBay and Amazon and you are stuffed, the person who brought the phone has to get it unlocked.

Just another reason not to get an iPhone.

I have an Iphone 4s on a £36 a month contract and I'm about 18 months in, what benefit would unlocking have? Don't fully understand, any reply appreciated

It just means if you want to change network and keep your iphone you can do easily and you can take a sim only deal out for say £10 per month instead

But it wouldnt affect the fact that I am still on the £36 contract and this would need to be paid off? Thanks

No not at all I'm at the end of my contract in 3 weeks so I intend to sell my iphone but now instead of been locked on vodafone it's available on all network which give you more chance off selling it

I didn't even know my phone was locked to specifically Voda UK until I went to try a Voda NZ sim and found it wouldn't work.

Took ages but they eventually unlocked it when I got back.

Yeah they are crafty with it they lock to the first sim you put in them

Vodaphone's logo is the same as the Klu Klux Klan's.

Anyone tried Link for other network such as Orange?

Trying ring them again, i bought a 2nd hand tmobile iphone4 and rang them up and and was told the same thing, I just argued and asked to speak to a supervisor and they eventually unlocked it at a cost, as one of the earlier comments said you may need to use the phone abroad and as long the iphone not barred or reported stolen they have no choice except to unlock it. It worked for me.

Tescos is £20 to unlock the iphone5.

Anyone managed to somehow unlock IPhone on t-mobile?

They try telling me it'll cost £25 -_-

To unlock through EE it's 20.42 which is basically t mobile now it says it can unlock it on there website sorry not looking good for t mobile

mate of mine gave his out of contract iPhone to my son (cracked screen), I phoned Vodafone and they sent unlock code by email about a week later

Good find op

I've been waiting for 3 weeks bought from a friend and still not got unlocked...sent 2 online requests with emi numbers.
looks like I will have to ring. Anyone know a number that's not 0870...

If your mobile is on vodafone now just call 191 from it, if not call 08700 700191

Three are the worst. They will not unlock any phone unless you bought it from them and ask for stupid things such as proof of purchase even if you bought the phone from someone else.

Yeah let me just email the guy who I bought my iPhone from eBay to go talk to his mate who he was selling the phone for, to go back to his uncle's coworker's cousin and ask him to ring up Three on my behalf and who probably lost the receipt 6 months ago, so he now has to email some form of ID.

Incredibly stupid system they have in place.

This has always been the case, and is the same for all mobile providers

It's a nitemare with Tmobile. I've got iPhone that I had to change because it was faulty at an Apple shop but because its not the origanal phone Tmobile refuse to unlock it. Now got an iPhone that I can't use on my preferred network

Vodafone wouldn't unlock my iPhone as I wasn't the first purchaser - I bought it new and sealed but locked to Vodafone off Ebay and used a Sim Only Vodafone tariff with it. I thought after 12 months they might do it but no, as it was not a phone obtained from them directly via a contract. I did find an unlocking service on eBay who did it for about £30 but it took a week.

Not iPhones.

Iphones are unlocked by setting a flag on Apples server, when the sim card is changed the phone checks back to Apple. If the phone is flagged as locked to a network it will be locked to that network.

Theres nothing the market trader can do to get to Apples database.

Jailbreak?

Hasn't worked since earlier iOS 4 firmware on the iPhone 4 and 3GS - so it almost definitely won't work.
