To be honest few years ago I was against iPhones but after so many Androids phones one day I just said to myself “try”
And definitely I’ll not back to any Android phone.
I think it’s more easy
In my experience.
My wife got Huawei p20 pro so I can use in home just to compare but is huge difference between them
But like I write above “in My experience “
So in this price definitely is worth try.

Yeah I think many of the discounts are similar across departments
I quite like the idea of this new iPhone SE. With the latest processor (same as 11 Pro) it means that it will be support iOS updates for many years to come.

Also the LCD screen as opposed to OLED means a replacement will be a lot cheaper. A great (although still expensive) phone for kids I reckon.

Just a shame it doesn’t t have the full screen of the other models!

Yeah it’s going to last well for a good few years. This would be a good phone for my mum
Really thinking of trying iOS again. My Oneplus 5T is in bits lol. Really don't do much on A phone so thinking about this.

First time ever I've been tempted to go to Apple, as they usually cost a fortune....
....but then again...

I don't think anyone has a problem with the way they perform I was a avid iphone user and the operating system was excellent I left because of poor battery life (iphone 5) and because the price was way too much for me. I think this is a good idea at least it would be at a better price.

Haha I think we’ll be looking at around £1100 retail for the base 12 pro this side of the pond so a lot of jaws set to drop too... for people who just want an iPhone for iOS without the gimmicks this se is a great deal although it annoys me you can get it substantially cheaper in the us even with sales tax
Would be good enough for 99% of the word population because the other 1% is on HUKD
What colour to go for? It’s between the black and the white for me. Although both seem to have front black facing bezels

It all depends what you need it for and your connection speed. 4g for me gives a reliable 90-100mb connection, more than quick enough!

Yes alpha, good old Uncle Sam is always cheaper on things like this. Would you believe though, food, healthcare, car insurance, phone & TV are way more expensive in the US.

Agreed fastcarmaniac, I'm not disputing that, especially today. My issue is the £ lost in about 2 years time. If I had to buy today and wanted 5G, I'd be going a used Oneplus 7 Pro from CeX @ £445 or a brand new Oneplus 8 @ £599.
iPhones don't often get discounted from launch so this is decent.

I'm just waiting to see this thread turn bitter. They usually do

Depending on your account, Amazon may offer you this iPhone interest-free over 5 months.

5G iPhone for £450? Triple that and then we can talk.
You shouldn't be so keen to try your brains with 5g phones.
In an appeal to the European Union, more than 180 scientists and doctors from 36 countries warn about the danger of 5G, which will lead to a massive increase in involuntary exposure to electromagnetic radiation

I know rodman, Apple really dropped the ball having there fall out with Qualcomm and therefore are at least a year behind in the 5G game. It's people who buy this who will suffer in 2 years time if they struggle to sell due to lack of 5G.
Does unidays work on this?

Had me until 'good phone for the kids' used iPhone 6s, original SE and 7 are ideally priced for the kids! This new SE is going to sell really well I think, having the latest SoC means no compromises and the smaller, lower-res screen is ideal for managing the smaller battery.

Turns out from the benchmarks, they have also underclocked the CPU so performance will not be as good as the others with the same chip. Also allows them to cheap out on the battery. Agreed regarding the low-res screen and battery consumption.

Funny you mention that! I was about to write that in my post but thought no-one else would be bothered! I thought they would underclock it a fair bit, the phone has a lot less pixels to push than the 11 Pro Max and reviews have shown the peak power consumption of the A13 is quite high so with that smaller battery it really needs to be kept in check. As to the battery, the chassis is pretty small so I'm not sure how much bigger they could even make it over the iPhone 8's battery, 1900mAh or whatever it is does seem a bit weedy in 2020.

I’ve had both colours with the older 5se models. To bear in mind, is if you want a black or white surround to your screen. I didn’t consider it, when I bought a black one!

An opposite story here. My Mrs traded in her iPhone 6s to iPhone xs (the total cost was still 1k) she is a light user and didn't notice any significant difference between those 2 models. They I have gotten huawei p20 Pro using o2 refresh trick kwhich costed me about £150.

Now she regrets having an expensive iPhone when inexpensive android with similar functionality and performance (well she is a light user) is available. Don't think her next phone is going to be the latest model of iPhone. Though if there are more sub £500 modules of iPhone and can consider using iPhone.

On the other hand my teenage daughter can't use anything than an iPhone. She refused to have a new Xiaomi as temporary phone and preffered to use her shattered and half visible screen iPhone for couple of weeks until I found an affordable good quality used iPhone.

Does anyone remember if we had the same issues with 3G or 4G?
machomansavage23/04/2020 17:39

I had 5SE phones in both black and a colour, and the screen surround was Black on the black one, and white on the other. When the screen is active, I found the surround in white blended in and was more comfortable to look at, whereas the surround in black was far more noticable, and made the screen itself more stark.
Given the choice, I personally would go for the white with white surround to the screen.

Some minor 3G problems out there. Didn’t hear much on 4g.

The usual conspiracy theories seem to revolve around gathering up a few unconnected events and joining the dots in a way that convinces idiots. COVID-19 and 5G is a match made in heaven for them... though it would probably be quite funny if the networks made some defences around the 5G masts which involved weaponised microwaves - might as well give them what they want!

The problem with not getting 5G on time is that I remember when 4G came out, they basically let 3G become unusable and stopped upgrading and maintaining it, I was on T-Mobile at the time and EE were pushing 4G hard. These days I can barely even browse the web with a strong 3G signal on any network.
