After not having much luck with Music Magpie buying a cheap iPhone 5S and then an iPhone SE, which were both returned either for the phone constantly crashing or the awful state of the phone, I decided to look elsewhere...

While this is more than Music Magpie's "Good Quality" phones, you are more or less getting a brand new iPhone SE 32GB version here.

Mine arrived arrived next day via DPD, despite them saying would take up to 3 working days.

The phone is described as Certified Manufacturer Refurbished, and might not come in original box and might be minor cosmetic marks. But I can talk from experience having received mine, and basically is brand new. Came cellophane wrapped and in original iPhone packaging with all the expected brand new accessories.

They seem to have sold out of Silver ones now, and the link in this deal is for the Gold phone and the rose pink link is below:
ebay.co.uk/itm…FO2

The seller has positive feedback of nearly of 165000, and a 99.8% positive rating.

I think there is also a deal on where you get 6x Nectar points if you purchase anything on eBay this weekend.

Nice price, but likely to be a new version launched in about 8 weeks so I’m trying to hold out

Seriously? Click the 'Get Deal' button above, it takes you to the deal, and there you can see the seller etc etc
Great phone. Great deal. A full screen se sized iPhone would sell like hot cakes, many people refuse to go any bigger.
Had same issue with Music Magpie, Phones constantly crashed, 6s?

How do you find this company on ebay

Spending ages scanning eBay, and using their filters to eventually find a deal I like, then checking the feedback from other buyers...

Previously on eBay you could search with the word refurbished next to the item you wanted to buy, and you could be assured it had properly been refurbished by a professional, who fully checked it over and they would replace/repair parts and an item be like new.

Now with these companies that re-sell second hand mobile phones, they are allowed to get away with using Refurbished in the title for a phone they are selling, and have just ensured has had the software wiped and and a 30 second quick test of the item. These phones are also wrongly graded and the quality of the product you actually receive is like the lottery.

That'll be a hardware issue, if you know someone that is an app developer or simply has a Mac with Xcode they can examine the debug output from the phone and see the reason. I've seen phones crash after seeing errors from the WiFi chip but could be many reasons. These companies probably don't test these issues and just check it turns on.
OP, what battery capacity is shown in the battery Health? My64gb SE from Music Magpie shown 97%
So they're manufacturer refurbished? i.e. by Apple?

Not many people really know, but I would be amazed if there wasn’t a new entry level device this year, most likely Sept.

Apparently so if you read the eBay post...

Came fully cellophane wrapped, in an iPhone SE box like was new and genuine lightning cable, boxed headphones and a plug with plastic wrapping around it.

Here is everything now and how it came...
(I am using my iPad charging cable/charger if you are wondering after two days why these bits are still wrapped up.)

It does however say on the eBay post all warranty bits have to be done through them, and comes with a 12 month warranty. The Phone Outlet have been trading on eBay for ages and not worried about that.

The 3 from MM I boughtdon’t even say that, they’re just not recognised at all, it’s as though Apple have removed them from the database.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha disagrees. An experimental phone from Samsung which paved the way for their lower specced A and J series. The Alpha didn't get a lot of notice, and was never treated like a flagship, but it had mad specs and was like air in your pocket.

How much space is left after latest iOS update?

About 26-27GB if I remember correctly...

But have now installed other things now.
I bought an SE from an eBay reseller like this with 100% feedback from over 41,000. ‘A’ grade and it arrived looking like it had been run over by a tractor. So I wouldn’t necessarily trust feedback to mean the item will always be as described because sellers usually sort out issues to prevent receiving negatives. This seller might be ok but it’s worth holding off on the optimism.

Bit of a flawed economy though that: the 16GB SE launched in 2016 at £370; given Apple’s big price increases since then I would expect an entry level 64GB model of the new iPhone (we will call it ‘Model X’) to start at £449, maybe more.

Although it stands to reason that Model X will be more ‘future proof’, the SE stands to be supported until at least 2020 (if the 5S is anything to go by - and it has the same amount of RAM as the iPhone 8

By 2020 you’ll likely be able to buy Model X for around the price of the SE we are looking at here, so that’s £131 saved - maybe more.

It’s not always better to wait for the newest model to come out, since models like this SE still perform excellently.

Of course, if price isn’t a concern then you’ll always get improvements in the newest model; although for this price you’ll hardly lose anything when selling this on, and it buys more time to buy a better deal on Model X.

I had a Galaxy Alpha and it was nowhere near as compact as the SE. It was a nice metallic build though, which made me swap my S5 for it (they both came out the same year). Unfortunately the camera wasn’t particularly great and it only got one update from 4.4 to 5.0, which was pitiful. It remains a nice looking piece of hardware but I wouldn’t put it in the same ultra portable category as the SE and it is also very far behind in terms of updates now.

But this deal is really about the price (Although relative, since it's an iPhone.
great deal if actually Apple refurbished....cant tell for sure on the ebay listing but given it came sealed etc it looks fairly likely. Some shady resellers imply manufacture i.e. apple refurbs when they are not

Yeah, it was very much a thing of its time. I found it to be unrivalled in a time where there was little competition for it. Sony's Z compacts were all that could compete and they were heavier and sharp in the pocket. I got rid of mine due to Samsung's lack of support. It remains the most standout compact phone I ever had.

Probably the best compact phone ever made.

For a woman/child. My thumb struggles with the keyboard on 5/SE models.
Had an SE for around a year now and it’s a great little phone, perfect to fit in the pocket at work and quite fast, good camera etc

I bought a grade A iphone se 32gb from this seller.

It looks brand new although the ebay listing says seller refurbished.

Very pleased with this purchase

They are out of stock for the 32gb grade A at the moment although they do have some grade B in stock for £124.99

They have grade A 64gb for £156.99 and grade A 16GB £122.99

it says 100% positive feedback although if you look at the reviews there are some "neutral" comments where people have returned phones.
Thanks op ordered, hoping its as good as the one you got. Great saving if it is!

Not really. Terrible recycling of the 5/5s chassis and I think you have to hand it to Sony for really pushing what could be done for flagship hardware in a compact body - similar size to the SE but they crammed in a 4.5-4.6” display, expandable memory, the fastest SoC at the time, 3.5mm jack, outstanding battery, great camera and waterproofing. Not that the SE was a bad phone butit’s hardly innovative or imaginative.
I have had mine for over two years. I got a new battery a few months back from Apple for £25. The phone's as responsive as it was the day I bought it. A really good phone. I can see no reason to replace it.
