Yes, Apple follow the well-worn concert promoter's strategy of releasing in controlled batches. Helps with the hype, which when you are selling a smartphone for a grand is a much needed ingredient...

Apple is all abut show off, most of people who buy apple phones dnt even know how to use it properly but just showing off luk I got iphone

Apple sucks... Bananas rule !

A grand? That would get me a hell of a good 4k TV and a ps4 pro lol

Good luck carrying that round in your pocket

Will wait till September 2018 for the next one X1 air lol

Old Apple trick !

keep the Stock Short to create demand ! lol

It's so so wrong that an iPhone costs more than a macbook.

Crazy how the flagship iPhone price has gone up in the last few years. People used to think £550 was too much when the 6 came out now it’s more than double that for a decent storage X.

Not missing a trick Apple introduced a complicated, costly to replace twin battery design to the X.
And the ultra fragile glass back, itself costs £556.

A future proof goldmine is likely there on everything. Apple Care is £200, and you still have to pay, even with that.

You cannot really blame Apple for all the sad gits who will buy anything that they sell. TBH they could charge 2K and I bet there will be suckers out there who MUST have it. I have had several Apple Computers since 1987 and I found this web site which calculated that had I bought Apple shares instead of buying those computers, I would be worth £3 million today!!!

How does that pay off? More units they have the more they sell the more cash they get. The same amount of people want one

If the devices sell out early because there’s low stock it builds up hype meaning more people who might previously have been on the fence take the leap and order one. Apple has been running this technique for years.

Better get that £200 insurance, it not even surviving the 1st 3 foot drop.
But even copycats like from LG are designed to break extremely easy.
