I did an O2 refresh deal on the iPhone X last November. Having done this twice before without issue, this last attempt was pretty difficult. Despite quoting their own terms and conditions which say you can cancel the airtime and pay off the device plan it took around 2 hours on the phone before they gave way. They ignored their own terms but agreed to cancel the airtime and let me pay for the device. I don’t think I will be doing that again.

There is a current post running for this O2 offer - the comments provide current information on how the offer works and whether codes etc are working.

Sorry if I'm being slightly thick, but what does it mean by total amount payable being £396 and the device cash price being £566?
Are these locked to o2?

how come?, your entitled to unlock your pay monthly phone at anytime. a item is yours the day you make the sale not on final payment.

We asked this and were told that once we had paid the phone off not the contract then they will be unlocked however 2 out of 8 phones we got were already unlocked from store but the other 6 had to wait for the code but they are now unlocked.

i work in telecoms, and what you was told is wrong, under ofcom rules you are entitled to unlock your pay monthly phone at any time, iirc there is a unlock my phone our the o2 account page, well was when i was with them lol

I can only tell you what was said to ourselves, and like I say when we checked them 6 were locked to O2 and 2 were unlocked.

Customer support will give you £75 off

Are you sure? I tried earlier for my mate (already got myself the £75 discount) and they refused.
But £38 a month. So your basically paying the full £1k for it
Start an online chat and tell them the iPhone and airtime plan you want. Ask for a new customer discount code (£75 off upfront cost). Chat will then send you a link that adds what you want to your basket. Enter the code given and checkout. End result an iPhone xr for £491. Arrives today then I'll cancel airtime plan under the 14 day returns policy. Very simple
How is it a good deal when your paying £29 month for your sim!

Because it's a 1 month rolling sim only contract separate from the phone contract, you can cancel this within 14 days and not have any further expense than the upfront phone cost.

Because you cancel the sim within 14 days and you just keep the phone.

Great deal OP.

Not if you cancel within 14 days...

I think this detail needs to be in the original post as some people don’t know how to access this deal!
I'm really shocked O2 havn't closed this loophole yet.
They must be losing a fair bit of money on the handsets. I wonder if they are going to start black marking people who use this loophole in their T's and C's.

Yes. Just say you've been told your entitled to a new customer code. The rep will check and come back with a code. It's very long process. I was on chat for nearly an hour. Not because the rep refused just slot of questions and checking every few messages if I wanted to proceed. First code said expired so the rep sent another one. Also there's an issue when using Chrome browser as the discount doesn't carry over to the checkout. Swapped to Firefox and all went through. Mines just been delivered today so it does work
Not even a 1080p screen yet it still goes hot at £550.
