Still about £400 more than it should be.
I love Apple, but I feel you are better off paying £729 for the latest iPhone 11.

I have an iPhone X and a Samsung Galaxy from my work. I despise the Samsung. Not because I’m in love with Apple. I just don’t get on with with the Samsung.

Consumer choice I guess..

Which products do you own?

Not really sure what that has to do with proceedings! I have an iPad and and iPhone.

£729 actually, which is £100 difference.

Apologies - you are right. Though I still think that £100 extra for the next generation of hardware is still worth paying.

Bring in the Apple fan boys

Bring in the Android fanboys to make pointless comments since they can’t help themselves*
To be honest, just download Halide and you’ll get decent portraits on your XR. I’d say it’s worth spending less as it’s a fantastic phone. Noticed a few more glitchy issues, but overall I love it
I couldn’t imagine someone paying £629 for this horrible phone... I have this piece of junk after switching from a P20 Pro, I’m not exaggerating when I say the P20 Pro was better in every single category (in my opinion of course). Do not buy this phone, or just buy mine
I enjoy Apple’s products, but it didn’t seem too long ago that I was willing to pay £399 to pre order the new iPhone, which today wouldn’t even get me the model from 2 or even 3 years ago! I’ll keep my iPhone 7 til a new iPhone X is under £300
kajo11/09/2019 12:34

Liquid Retina is quite weird way to spell LCD

Yea it's the usual Apple marketing tripe.

Best of luck with that one.
Can't believe anyone would think it's better to get this over an 11 for £100 more.
Needs to be 300quid, worst phone of the year for me

But no Macs, obvs
Apple's pricing is typically the same in pounds and dollars, but you can thank Brexit (and it's devaluing of the pound) for this year's iPhones being more expensive in the UK. I know the American prices exclude VAT, but the UK prices are still relatively more expensive if you account for that.

Haven't seen you on any Sony threads telling us how much you love Sony

I love Apple amongst other tech we use, but then there are 4 of us here all running Apple stuff (iPod, iPad, watch, iPhone, Mac etc), plus I work from home and work on Mac all day long and use the Apple cloud for storage. Our list of Apple stuff is pretty long.

Also have some Android stuff here but it doesn't compete for our needs, and isn't as seamless or easy to manage with updates etc. For the amount of Apple tech we have I generally don't have to do much other than set off the odd update - I think if it was all Android I'd have to spend hours sorting it out.

If you have an Apple based ecosystem for your family, everything works together and as it should do. Music, photos, file sharing, airdrop, shared family storage. Everything just does what it's supposed to do.

Edit: my main Android item is our Sony gaming TV, and that does crash a lot and needs turning off/on a lot to get it working!!

I think Apple peaked with the iPhone 7 Plus, it has gone down hill since then, no innovation. The latest offerings haven’t persuaded me to upgrade just yet!

Because it’s shiite! But it’s somehow still hanging on in there!
I’ll bite when the 128gb version is 350

I think Sony Android TVs need to be excluded from this conversation!

I hear what you are saying, but the workarounds that allow me to run a superior phone are no biggie.

I used to have Apple Music on everything (including my Huawei phone - there’s an official Android app - but changed to Amazon Music recently as it works better for my Echo devices in every room. Again, there are apps for all platforms for that.

There is an official Google photos app for iPad, so immediately as I take a photo with my Huawei, it’s on my iPad and Macs too.

I have a cloud device attached to my router, so sharing files isn’t an issue either.

I like to have the best of everything, within reason, and when it comes to something as important as my smartphone, an iPhone simply isn’t good enough.
Higher price in £ to $ for 1st time ever. Iphone XR £629 - $599 Iphone 11 - £729 - $699 The pro models are £50 more expensive in UK also while they stay the same price in the US. Even adding US taxes We are still getting well ripped off.

Apple are ripping UK customers off big time. Trade in deals are shocking also. Was going to go back to Apple as i do prefer IOS. Sticking with my S10 plus for now. If more people done the same maybe Apple would stop ripping us all off. Look at China people did not buy so they had to reduce the prices.

Will wait till black Friday hopefully Amazon etc have good deals like they did with summer prime day.

Oh, please. The no innovation/bright ideas/new features is a ridiculous technological argument. Going by your reckoning, we'd be at the edge of the universe by now.

Have both and android too slow/apps crash regularly. Work pay for it so no bother.
I switch from android to iPhone. I have a 7 plus and don’t see the need to upgrade yet whilst I still get OS upgrades. Latest os update will improve the overall system on my 7 plus so no need to change just yet.

The Night mode if anywhere near as good as Google's Night Sight makes it worth it alone IMO. It's been the biggest (and quietest) step forward since Samsung started dramatically reducing bezel sizes. Proven by how quickly all the other manufacturers have rushed to copy it.

Huawei P20 Pro had the feature from launch, over 6 months before Google.
MrSwitch11/09/2019 12:24

Is that a deal?

Relative to £629 for the previous generation it is, do you think otherwise or are your trying to take to classic 'jab at Apple'
Nicolas11/09/2019 12:18

Nice phone but be very wary it’s big and heavy

Only a problem if you're under 5 years old but a valid point nonetheless
