I dont like the iphone gimmick, but its great that its USB rechargable compared to the typical 6x AA batteries needed for typical remote control helicopters in this price range

what helicopters take 6 aa batteries? surely they wouldn't take off. Everyone i have seen and used has it's own battery The batteries are for the controller and as this uses a iphone as controler it doesn't need batteries.

Yeah, indirectly. Every one I used, the controller takes 6 batteries, and then you charge the helicopter from the controller.

Very annoying hidden cost, and pretty expensive for decent batteries.

You still need to physically connect your iPhone to the controller! Sorta makes the whole thing a bit pointless.
