iPod Nano 1st Generation replacement with the latest 7th Generation!

Apple were previously replacing iPod Nano 1st Generation devices with 6th Generation due to the product recall, but it seems that now they are sending out 7th Gen devices (as per many various forum posters).

If you have one, it might be time to trade it in if you'd been holding onto it.

It should be replaced with the 16GB Nano 7th Gen worth £129 at retail price - although this isn't guaranteed, it is what most are getting.

Send these highly dangerous iPods in and do yourself a favour
It seems to be luck of the draw, if you don't get a 7th Gen, then it will definitely be a 6th Gen.

Direct link to page will be posted in the comments.

YOU MAY NOT RECEIVE A 7TH GEN, MANY HAVE RECENTLY RECEIVED 6TH GENERATION NANO'S - YOU WILL RECEIVE A SUITABLE 'REPLACEMENT'.

Is there anything stopping me from buying a 1st Gen on ebay and sending it in?

no i did the same with cex

Thank you - knew NOTHING about this, but had an old Nano in a drawer, not been used for years. Request already submitted. Don't really mind what generation the replacement is - gotta be better than a 2gb 1st gen

Did this last year with a 4GB one that didn't even work and received an 8GB back.

This explains why they're going for £50+ on eBay!!!

Brilliant thanks very much op knew nothing about it my daughter is using my old 1st gen ipod ( but not anymore !! ) in her bedroom on a docking station so just waiting for my box to send back! Well happy !!

Did this about 3 weeks ago, 1st gen thats been lying in a drawer for ages. Apple send out a packet to send it back in then about a week later got the 7th gen 16gb. Its not in retail packaging but was brand new.

Didn't know about this thanks...time for an update!

Just read the T&C and only some are eligible for this (sold at a certain period) so not worth the risk to buy a 1st Gen

how do you check which version you have?

It's all generation one, I've been in on this for a long time, buying up gen 1 from cash converters etc for £10 and sending them in, I've had about 12 so far lol easy £50 profit on eBay.

Nice, just bought one off eBay for £35. Could see the serial from the photos so checked it first. Be careful because the first one I checked came up with a message like "This product has already been registered blablabla please contact us"

As much as I hate Apple I have to admit their support/aftercare is second to none

Aww shucks, I've kept my iPod Nano ("MINT condition!!") more as a collectors piece as I love the design. Not sure I want to trade mine in!

You might not get a 7th Gen iPod in return. I have been getting 6th Gen Nanos back over the last few weeks. Nothing from Apple specifies what generation you'll get as a replacement.

Yeah, best products on the market, THE inspiration for the entire remainder of the IT world to copy for over three decades, superb aftercare - what's not to hate?

I'd happily live without iTunes

apple products are overpriced garbage and mega awful containment

I sent my old Nano off about 2 years ago and recieved a new 6th Generation. Have always been tempted to try and find more 1st gens on eBay/Cex - but looks like everyone else has the same idea!!

does it work for non-working ones?

DON'T!!! If its mint condition, wait for all the scalpers to sell theirs, then sell as a 1st gen Mint for much more than you'd get for a 7th gen

I replaced mine last month. I also received the 7th gen which even included the Lightning to 30-pin adapter. The whole process took a week.

Any idea if Apple will replace a wired UK Keyboard that is several years old? The space bar only works 50% of the time when you hit it dead centre. Don't have the receipt or box. Whats my chances if I take it into an Apple Store? I remember it was about £40 bought from Dixons at the Airport some years back.

Doubt it very much - that's wear and tear for you

Bought Hubby one of these years ago, it has a personalised message engraved on the back so he doesn't want to part with it. Keep trying to find out if they will accept an exchange without the back but getting nowhere. Any thoughts, please? Thanks

Hi I'm on the PFA at my children's school, and we are trying to raise funds to replace the books in our school library, if anybody doesn't really use their iPod anymore and would fancy donating the replacement to my school as a raffle prize I cant tell you how grateful we'd be.
A very cheeky ask I know. Xx

I've got a couple of Granny Smith's in the fridge, going a bit soft, I was thinking the same!oO

When they replaced my ipad they took less than 24hours from request in the Solutions store to them phoning me to say it's in. They're usually quite fast so let's see what happens.......
