Thanks just updated original post now.

These are about the size of an after eight mint. But more expensive and inedible. The ipod has considerably more storage capacity though so it's difficult to do a direct comparison. An after eight mint doesn't have a screen either, so it's more like a Shuffle, but it's no good for taking to the gym as they have a tendency to melt.

People need to think carefully about their requirements before making a decision.

hot! considering getting this for gf for christmas!

Apple have the 5th generation 8Gb nano for £79 (refurb) on their website. The 5th gen version has video camera - is this a better deal than the current version?

Thankss.... That's another gift sorted

There are none of those £79 refurbs available at the moment. They keep coming and going, getting snapped up, but they keep showing on the Apple Store front page.

To me the old model is better because it had a camera, which made it an ideal gift for children

I wouldn't agree with that necessarily especially when you consider how poor the camera quality is. If people really want the camera then the new iPod touch would be the ideal choice over an older model iPod. I suppose in the end it depends what you want if your happy with a old iPod or want the current generation besides there is no comparison between the older version and this current version as its been changed considerably by apple.

This tiny thing is pretty cool, but it's still far too expensive for an MP3 player. If it was half the price I might consider it. BTW, apparently you can a wrist strap for it so you can make it into a watch.

I'd usually buy something like an iRiver or Sony but this is a very good deal and exactly what I was looking for, my Mum's Xmas present is sorted. Thanks Op

Paying for the Apple name here!

I have an Ipod Classic myself, does the job, but I am sure that other brands are just as good if not better!

I love the fact that apple made it "cool" to rotate the screen manually. So now you get to pay even more, and they dont need to put in an accelerometer. Apple really does think people are idiots.... but then again.....

Really depends on if you like the shape and wheel.
I prefer the older versions, but it doesn't matter as I've got an iPhone anyway.

I think this product is poor, the last generation is far superior. Apple had almost perfected it. I prefer the form factor and functionality of the last gen.
