I'd gladly pay more if it tasted like it used to

As would we all (at least, those of us who aren't aspartame apologists).
From the relative failure of "1901" to their rapidly declining share price and market share, Barr are getting desperate. The quickest, and most logical way to mitigate this, and to bring some much needed cash into the business, is to bring back real Irn-Bru. It will happen, it's only a matter of when.
Not tasted since the recipe changed. Is it that bad?
Got 4. Tastes perfectly fine to me.

Was 1901 a failure? Always seemed to sell out really quickly.

Think of the worst taste you've ever tasted. Multiply that by one thousand. You're not even close.

Tell that to my local Morrison's who are currently sitting with 3 unsold pallets on the shop floor. My local Sainsbury's are the same. The corner shops were smarter and ordered on a case-by-case basis.
Come on, £2 for 750ml of Irn-Bru flavoured Creamola foam was never going to fly once people cottoned on to how poor it was compared to what was essentially withdrawn literally a matter of months prior.

Extra is pretty good (for a diet version) if it's ice cold.

A soft drink with caveats is really no soft drink at all.
Depends how desperate you are for something fizzy, with no calories, and a higher risk of cancer.
Cold full of aspartame and tastes bad now

Yeah tastes fine to me to be honest.

Better than fine really. Delicious. As always. 🍻

My deepest, deepest sympathies to you all. R.I.P. your tastebuds.

I'm a Supertaster so my sense of taste is superior to most. Sounds like your taste buds are knackered though bud.

Sounds like you're speaking from experience.
It has been quite some time since my last 'good Irn-Bru' as it has been withdrawn from sale for over a year now.
It's genuinely concerning that you consider yourself a "supertaster" since it's as plain as day that the revised Irn-Bru tastes utterly disgusting
Yep, Irn Bru still tastes great to me. Lucky me
