The 980 version is £449 at my robot center and it has carpet boost tech, lasts 45 mins longer, virtual wall 2 instead of 1, and a newer generation motor. Also a 5 year warranty with myrobotcenter.
All for an extra £20.
This is the version I'm keeping my eye on but it hasn't dropped past £449 (if at all) for about 6 months.

If you have bought this OP I would be returning it lol.

£100 more than the roborock S5 which is a much better vacuum (and mop) and light years ahead of the 980.

How is it lightyears ahead and what's the difference between models? I see that there is an S6 version.
I bought the 960 from myRobotcenter for £399 as a gift for Christmas. Comes from Germany with a UK plug - 5 year warranty with them. Has been very good so far. Battery life is good (not as good as the 980), but slightly irrelevant as he puts himself back on charge before going back for more. Didn’t need the boost function as only have wooden floors. Has far passed expectations, and the floors are keeping cleaner than ever before (even with three dogs). Would highly recommend this, although still looking for a self emptying robot like the i7+ but can’t justify the price tag for that yet.

S6 just has a newer processor and better cleaning algorithm, 3 hr battery as opposed to 2.5. great for large American houses, not needed over here. My first gen Xiaomi vacuum does all of downstairs in 45 minutes without needing a recharge on max power and that's cleaning the utility room, kitchen, hallways, downstairs bog, living room, playroom, dining room and conservatory.

Compared to the 980 the S5 has better battery life, much better navigation tech - roomba not much better than the 1st gen vacuums, better cleaning algorithm, much stronger suction and the app is superb - no need for physical wall barriers, just draw it on the app. You can tell it to just clean the kitchen for example. Can also mop too.

980 had a slightly larger dust bin and probably quieter as the motor isn't as powerful.

If you look on forums and ask owners, no one's ever said they wish they chose a Dyson eye, neato or roomba instead of the xiaomi

Imo not worth the upgrade - performance is identical. Unless you want one for upstairs and one for down (i was looking to do that at xmas when eBay code made the xiaomi first gen £180 but seller refused to sell!)

Thank you will probably be waiting for the s6 to drop instead of the 980 now lol.
I will compare the s5, s5 max and the 6 tonight.
Do you know where you can buy the s6 in the uk? Quick google of all and the s6 is the only one I'd struggle finding/buying?

Does appear to be oos in UK.

Don't know much about the S5 max but from a quick Google it just seems the water tank is larger and adjustable in the app, and has a few more side brushes.

Quick comparison here (S5, s50 and s55 are all the same vacuum, just different colours)

Still think the S5/50 is the better value if you can find it for £300 or so
Any recommendations on which robovac is good for cleaning up after very long haired dogs?
