ISIC [International Student Identity Card] for £2 (usually £12) using voucher code STUDENT - STA Travel

50
Found 9th Aug 2015
Get an ISIC for just £2 using the voucher code STUDENT during the checkout process (code takes off £10 from the original price of £12). If you use a Visa Debit card there's no card fee, but for other cards (such as MasterCard) there's an extortionate 4p fee(!). No delivery charges if you choose regular delivery (7-10 days delivery frame I believe).

ISIC is widely accepted internationally as ID to receive student prices/discounts, as opposed to the NUS Extra card which is valid within the UK.

Not sure about the expiry date of the voucher code.

Anyone can comment on its benefits abroad?

not too sure the benefits of this card are worth it unless there is something on the list you really want to do

I believe that it gives you access to student prices abroad... Eg. admission at the student rate instead of the full price adult rate.

ISIC eligibility
The STA ISIC card is available to all full-time students over the age of 12. Full-time means 15 hours or more per week, for 12 weeks or more of the year.
You'll need to provide;
- Either a Student ID, letter or other document from your place of study confirming you're a full time student OR an Open University confirmation of registration for 60 points.
- Proof of your Date of Birth.
And also, gap travellers (with a Deferred/Confirmed UCAS Placement).
You'll need to provide;
- A document showing a confirmed UCAS placement for after your GAP year.
- Proof of your Date of Birth.
Minimum age is 12, no maximum age. If aged 15 or under, call 0333 321 0099 to book.

Having had one of these in the past, I've found them to be more or less useless.

I'd say its only worth purchasing if you know that you'll certainly benefit from it.
I'm still giving it heat for the price

I got one of these a good few years ago when travelling round Europe. Got me cheap or free entry into many museums and attractions.

Not sure about now, but certainly a budget-travellers friend then.

Do you have to be a student to get it?

I see it says when booking from September it is valid until the following year (16 months) but as it is currently August when would the card be valid until? Has anyone purchased one recently?

Yes, hence the name oO

Pretty useless. I was able to use my regular university ID (which is obviously free if you're a student) as a form of student ID to get student pricing in Portugal and elsewhere.

Do you have to be a student to get it?

In theory yes.

But I walked into my local college Student Union as a mature student and got them to verify I was a 'student'. I was up front with them why I wanted a card, and it worked at the time but might be different now.

This is actually great for abroad. I normally get it added to my NUS card as I'm doing a part time masters but it didn't offer me the option last time as I had a 3 year NUS card..... I just did this and normally most places abroad, esp international destinations will want ISIC card.

these cards are great! I've never been a student but get student discount everywhere with it. works high Street shops and cinema no problem. I've been using them for 6 years now and never had it rejected.

nope, never been one and been using this card for student discount in UK for 6 years now

could this potentially be abused for someone to obtain fake ID?

I'm a mature student (nearly 40) and I couldn't use this card to get student discount at Mont Saint Michel in France. Apparently I was too old.

I have an NUS extra card and use it loads in the UK without issue, it also includes the ISIC but that's never got me a discount anywhere.

I had one of these in the past but no where accepted it in the countries that I visited with it, in my personal experience, overseas student deals especially in retail wanted to see a university card or in places within Asia, they give discount to students to those at their inland universities so I found it a complete waste of money. That's just in my experience though, others may have used one successfully, I never did.

This is a blast from the past! Me and my mates all had these ISIC cards as ID for pubs/clubs when we were 15 (saying we were 18 obviously) always worked as they were real photo ID. Ahh the the good old days...

Cheers.

Yep, not working for me either now when I try it. Must have expired. Perhaps STA caught onto it?

I think it's outrageous that they're marketing this card as gaining you free entry to places such as The National Portrait Gallery, where it is already free entry. Anybody else think so?

There's a curry shop in Delhi that gives 10% off , on production of the card.

I read your comment and thought it was outrageous, but then went to the website and can see that it actually states:

Not working

I ordered on Sunday, and I can see it in my order history, but nothing else. No confirmation email, and I've not added a photo etc. What happened to other people?

I had to phone up for my order confirmation (the person who I spoke to manually sent it over to me).
