The Isis 42" 3D TV offers outstanding value, plus it comes complete with 4 pairs of 3D glasses, meaning that the whole family can enjoy eye-popping 3D action from the latest films and sports.

Yes its not the most prestigious brand in the world, and not the most hi-tech tv around, but at this price, surely a decent option for people considering going 3D..

£373.75 after TCB. Don't know if any voucher codes exist..

If anyone has one, please enlighten with review

Got an Isis but not this model. Fantastic quality for the price i paid.

3D Ready? How much do 3d transmitters cost?

Fantastic reviews

My kids are chomping at the bit for 3D , but man, that is one fugly tele....if I brought that home they'd say "Dad, look, we know you're trying your best, but really...just look at the plight of it - be away with you before someone we know turns up"

if TV aesthetics were measured by politician's beauty factor ...then this one is Anne Widdecombe (during her very aesthetically challenged spell)

I think they got the brand lettering a litte wrong - it should not say Isis, but Minging.

I guess a 3d transmitter is either a 3d blueray player, 3d material on a pc or 3d sky

I think that means a 3D source ie a a 3D capable bluray player or SKY 3D channel

so what about say.. 3d xbox/ps3 games? would they work without buying anything else?

i think so yes. ps3 is a 3d blu ray player, just needs the free update from playstation to play them. i dont know if this tv is any good , just saw this and thought it was cheap.

What happens 3 years down the line when you need new glasses or a repair and the brand may well not be in existence anymore.

what is 3d please I am interested as I can no longer get ch 4 & as 3 goes into 4 1.2 times I thought this might be an upgrade but my carer is not so sure
Gracias

Fantastic reviews

The reviews dont seem to tie up with the product - none refer to the 3d, one mentions its great value at less than £300 and there are reviews back from at least Feb 2011 - I couldnt be bothered looking further but there were still many pages to go and the BestBuy site says it is a new product???

is it passive or active, cant see anywhere.

With 4 pairs of glasses included in the 300 quid price tag, passive most definitely.

It's 1.33 times though.

Wonder when they'll bring out 4D...

the specs dont seem to add up to me... but if this is passive then its a very good price.

Isis are manufactured by Sharp

At this price, dont be daft . You need to spend thousands to get a colour tv meaning only celebrities and footballers can afford them

50Hz refesh rate would all indicate it's passive.

The 4th dimension is time, so the answer is never.

I don't need this as I have a 40 inch HD TV in my room but I had sky HD so would be able to get SKY 3D but really it isn't going to be worth it just to watch the odd football match/film

K1LLER HORNET

The 4th dimension is time, so the answer is never.

4th Dimension isn't time, we are talking about dimensional perception.

2 dimensional world - has an infinite amount of lines x and y and can only see one of those 1 dimensional objects
3 dimensional world - has an infinite amount of planes, x, y & z and can only see 2 of those dimensions, don't get confused here each eye sees a 2D image and our brains calculate depth from the two images so we do only see 2 dimensions.

ok here goes...

a 4th dimensional world in theory is an infinite amount of 3 dimensional planes out side of our own, they should be able to see 3 dimensional environments, the difficulty of the mind reliasing that is its like seeing the front, sides, tops, bottom, inside, outside and back of a person all at once..

again its nothing to do with time, so just maybe one day we will be able to step outside of our 3D world and enter a 4th dimensional world and see 4D!

'racist' eh?

I was expelled from school once.
I wanted to run in the 100m, teacher wanted me to run in the 200m,we argued for 10 minutes then he accused me of being "Racist"!!!

If you are on the Entertainment Extra package + movies on Sky can you activate the 3D channels for free? If not, how much are they?

Funny though! lol

Of course it's passive. It's a TV you tard, it's not going to get up and follow you about the house. It'll just sit there.

Aslong as you have Sky HD, Sky Sports, Sky Movies and all 6 packages (entertainment, children, etc..) basicly the sky world pack, you will get 213 for free. If you dont get it, call sky or go online to activate it. It will come up split screen, and look strange but the TV will decode it for you

i havent heard of Isis but this is an unbeleivable price for a 3d 1080p 42" tv with 4 sets of glasses

i assume its passive 3d ?

Picked up mine today
Got my sky 3d switched on its great
plenty of rear connections
Gives you virtual 3d on ordinary channels, works good
passive and as there are seven of us i need cheap glasses

We have also been using them cinema glasses and think perhaps the effect might be better with them:D
as for the price unbelivable

Any discount codes please?

Definately try cinema glasses much better 3D

Picked up mine today.

Well happy - great pic on Virgin HD and GTA5 is great!

12yo and her mates and a 4yo and her cousins in the house, If any of them tread on the glasses by accident its no smacked legs.

A great introduction to 3d for nothing money!

Thanks OP

Seen this in store, and I must say it is a very good deal given the view, better than some LG and Samsung by comparism. Also an LCD 46" for £349 in store

Mine was just delivered this morning.

a few things that weren't clear in the original post or on the Bestbuy site.

- you can record onto USB, not just play media
- It's gloss black (the images/description weren't clear IIRC)
- it has 4, not the advertised 2, HDMI sockets (3 rear, one on the side - the side HDMI (along with the 2 x USB and CI slot) is very deeply recessed - about a foot or more - so connecting things when it's on the wall won't be straightforward!)
- the four pairs of glasses each come with a pouch and a cleaning cloth (nice touch, I thought!)

I haven't yet connected it or even turned it on (requires some wiring work in the room before I can do that) but I'll report back once I do.

First impressions (for what they're worth from simply looking at a powered-down TV set!) are very positive :o)
