Bought this at full price about 6 months ago, which was the cheapest I'd seen for this type of hob back then for £109!
Was in Focus (Winsford) and saw it reduced in their sale to a ridiculously cheap £70!
Without wanting to get into a debate of Gas Vs Electric hobs, this is an excellent item if you're after a new electric ceramic hob, you'd be expecting one of the ugly metal versions for this price.

Are u sure this is a ceramic hob? I have never seen a ceramic hob for less than £300.

Superb price. They tend to be around the £150 mark for the more budget brands. £300 would be for a top end brand.

Hi,
Yes it's a Ceramic Hob with SCHOTT Glass surface which you can use a scraper on to clean and forgot to mention that it has Red indicator lights that stay on until the surface has cooled down to a temperature which is safe enough to touch. Been using it for months after doing A LOT of scouring/research/price checking and its as good as some of the other more expensive models for a fraction of the price!

Does it have touch controls?

Original Poster

No, it has black knob/dial controls, but for this price.........

Just checking ;-)

didnt by chance have a product number did you .. can even see the range on website .. would be nice if they doing it at all branches ... was this a one off item

For some reason, they don't have them online but have stocked them instore for nearly 12 months now. Not sure about stock in other stores but I'd imagine they stock them elsewhere. I'll have to get back to you with more specific details

Don't need one but, it's a good deal none the less!!

In your dreams ;-)

I managed to crack my ceramic hob 3 months ago when a pepper mill toppled over on it.
It cost me over £400 to buy a replacement and that was after a lot of shopping around and finding a 10% discount voucher. I was gutted !!

Ceramic hobs, talk to me, talk to me. I'll give you £70, alright you're twisting my arm £50.

It's a shame this will be hard to find, we could really use one as 2 of our hobs' thermostats are broken

I think theres a difference in ceramic hobs, and ceramic induction hobs.
The first are the cheaper and can generally be purchased from £140 upwards,
The latter are more expensive and are newer technology, these start at about £300 for the lowest end.

HTH

I recently purchased a Hotpoint Induction hob from B&Q online for £129 including delivery. Thought the price was wrong when i ordered it but it was delivered on tuesday and looks great.

voted cold just because he can't even be bothered to give a direct link.

I'm sorry, but if you'd bothered to have read the whole thread you would have seen that the original poster says this;

"For some reason, they don't have them online but have stocked them instore for nearly 12 months now."

So there is no direct link. I think you were too hasty to judge.

I got a couple of single induction hobs from Lidl a while back at £30 a pop (inc 3 yr warranties) and they are great as long as you keep your (magnetic/ steel) pan in contact with them. Personally I like to throw the food around a bit wok-stylee but the one I kept is great for hot pot and bloomin quick at heating stuff up. It's so fast you have to watch it like a hawk!!! They've had them in before...

It's INDUCTION that one should look for to rival/beat gas. Induction is safe to touch the hob, more efficient, can melt chocolate without a bayerne (not sure how you spell that) straight in the pan, heats up super fast, and the glass is easy to clean - but it needs magnetic pans.

The other ceramic hobs with light or heat elements are inferior to gas and induction - and are not meant to be that easy to clean, because the glass is very hot that any spill onto it stains badly. These are just pretty looking metal hot plates.

So buyer beware, be sure what your getting and if it's what you expected.

Don't know if it will complement this but I noticed a double oven in Ikea for £70 yesterday.

Perhaps someone more knowlegable could check it out?

Good info. I got all excited when I saw this, now I'm going to give it a miss and stick with gas. Have some rep

I got one of these a couple of weeks ago from Focus in West Wickham Kent for 70 - only just fitted it - seems good.
Schott Ceran top - knob controls (prefer to be honest than touch) - heets up and cools down pretty quick & indicator lights. All looks black - very smart.

Breeze to fit - just had to trim existing hole slightly - old hob was old & surface had perished.

Bargain if you can find one as cheapest cheap brand I could see was in Currys/Comet starting at around 150.
Having said that my local B&Q has a Zanussi oven/hob pack fro 349 is anyone interested.
