BSM Williams:
Never before have I seen such a blatant display of poofery!
Takes me back some years....used to love this program aged 8 or 9. As with many others of this era (on the buses, till death us do part, george & mildred, love thy neighbour et al) I doubt they have aged well or indeed be seen as PC today. Good price though!
Ate these edited for any ‘near the knuckle’ bits?
GLORIA???!!!!
Lovely Boy, heat added
Classic non PC comedy, great stuff
It would be tragic if it was all edited (half the show would be missing) to suit the PC Brigade ... it's a long gone time

But let's be fair, its nothing about being PC. But at least some people can still watch it via DVD. It's just unacceptable in this day & age to stick it on TV.

I don't think so, if BBC put up appropriate warnings - it's just interesting 'dated' comedy that helps illustrate our recent cultural past & what was acceptable not that long ago.

Radio 4 recently ran a play that had lots of blatantly anti-Semitic stuff in it - they made similar warnings to listeners before the prog. Trouble was, people came in half way thru then sent in their complaints. I listened to the editor defending running the play (on Talkback) and had to agree: you won't get a perfect outcome but it's far better to broadcast dated but acclaimed/ popular art & culture than try to be over-clever & censor it - give the adequate warnings, broadcast it, get the flak, defend what you've done, let people work it out for themselves. Without broadcasting old stuff with unacceptable (in new productions) content these days, you won't let people get educated as to where the lines in the sand might lie.
Loved this show. Soo tempted.
Good deal, but don't tell the whispering grass, it don't need to know.

They aren't being "humiliated and stereotyped", they WERE (perhaps) being "humiliated and stereotyped". Complain then, not now; too late. You can't change the past.

Who is suggesting that we revert back to the 70's! Watching something from the past doesn't mean progress is about to stop and go in reverse.

Yes, let's erase everthing since before, what, 2000? Just in case people pick up subversive ideas from the past. "Liberalism" Soviet style.

Firstly I voted this deal HOT.

Secondly, I watched the series first time & enjoyed it.

But I replied to someone who complained that the PC brigade are spoiling everything today, insinuating that you can can't do the whole stereotyping thing anymore....

If people want to watch non PC comedy/programmes then that is entirely up to them. That era is when some of the best stuff was made.
If offended, don't watch or buy and absolutely do not preach to others what they can and cannot do.
This PC culture is beyond a joke in this country!

Well that horse bolted a long time ago.

Get used to it. Watch & buy what you want. No one is saying you should rewrite history!

But dont mourn over what you cant get away with in 2018! Many want to be able to see such programming still being made!!
Who's mourning? All this PC brigade do is continually moan about stuff that THEY find offensive. As I said if you don't like it tough, don't buy or watch it. Simple as!!
