The check-out girls have been trained up, and follow a manual.

I'd much prefer Boots over Tesco, Hot from me !

Why is that then - do you have personal experience?

That's why i was so confused by this deal as I've never had to pay and never thought anything of it..!

The comment about trusting Tesco is the dumbest thing i have ever heard.
No matter where you work you are getting tested by a qualified Optometrist who all have to keep up to date with CET points so they are all clued up on what they are doing.
A standard eye test requires certain aspects of the eyes health to be checked as well as the refractive error of the eye.
Whether you go to boots or tesco it does not matter both will give you an eye test to a satisfactory level.

Lighten up jeez. I'm just talking from personal experience I'd prefer to get my eyes tested at Boots rather than Tesco.

Pretty sure it's free in Wales too.

Well its cold from me - you can get a free eye test from Tescos and to infer that Boots is any more qualified as an opticians is just plain idiotic. From my experience (or rather my wifes) Tescos treat their obligation to eye care far more seriously than the high st brands such as Boots and Specsavers. Very easy to blindly bash Tescos, just because its fashionable.
