Can someone explain the advantages and disadvantages to having vpn.. I know it’s to basically to use the internet without being tracked etc but my brother downloads torrents all the time and has for years without vpn and he’s not in jail so what’s the script really? A side to me thinks it’s a scam.. like the corporations that feel they stand to lose revenue from the torrent society have set this up as a means to get some back who knows? Can someone enlighten me on the situation! Thanks in advance.

As pointed out in other Windscribe posts, yes you can't go wrong for the price, but you can also go right with other lifetime subscriptions, eg my VPNunlimited was 18quid last year and I find it faster than my 60gb-a-month windscribe.

I am already using them, since 2 montht , so far there excellent even for watching torrents with acestream . Recommend

this code for 5 year windscribe subscription via stacksocial has been getting commented on in many posts since beginning of january so whats new and why is it back ?
What are speeds like with these? I bought a years nordvpn only a month or so ago and only get 30mpbs at a push, fast enough for streaming admittedly, but not great for downloading when I’ve got virgin 200 line
I tried this VPN and their IP's are blocked by some sites.

I tried this VPN and their IP's are blocked by some sites.

This is all the case with all VPN providers... Unless you requested for a dedicated IP address
Just done some research and this product is not even on most 'best VPN' lists
I'm disappointed with it. I'm using free version and I have to turn it off when I stream anything. Sort of defies the point really.

I have a lifetime subscription, and can't fault it. New client on the way, that promises faster speeds, but I've been getting full speed anyway.
I have this no problem at all
Ended up going for the IPVanish deal before Christmas & really disappointed by it. Despite their claims of the fastest VPN in the world I find it painfully slow through my Virgin 200mb. Really struggles to stream anything & I’ll be lucky to get 5mb download speeds as opposed to 25mb with it disabled. Doesn’t matter if I switch servers it doesn’t seem to make any difference which makes me think it’s not actually doing anything.

Anyone else have problems with IPVanish & would it be worth jumping ship to Windscribe or NordVPN?

Heat added - got the 1 year deal
pointless, as in the 5 eyes zone...

Could it be virgin throttling you for the VPN?

Miaas I’m on the 200vivid also chum and I’m with IPVanish I’m get 140 at max with the VPN active but 240 with virgin at best. I’m using the router in modem mode only connect to the nighthawk to do all the internet heavy lifting. I defo recommend ipvanish it was the best of all the trails I used to work with virgin.

Sounds like you already know what a VPN is ;-)

In short, it just hides your IP address. So when you browse the web, the site you go to sees the IP owned by Windscribe in this case, rather than you.

Is it worth having one? Well you've got to trust that company with EVERYTHING. The VPN company has the power to see literally everything you do. So if you go to an x-rated site, or watch torrents - the VPN provider could theoretically pass your details onto police. You'll see most VPN providers saying "we don't make logs of what you visit!" - yeah right. I could write an essay on the subject. If you're just trying to get some privacy on forums, don't want ads tracking you via your IP, or connect to the internet in a public area e.g a hotel , then a VPN might be useful for you.

Well when Dummies Guide people wanted $200000 from each file sharer in the USA would you risk it just because you're in the UK? I wouldn't.

(May have been Idiot's Guide people).
when i tried the 60gb free windscribe i found it pretty bad to be honest most of the ip addresses were blacklisted. i'd rather buy a different vpn for more and get a clean unique ip for myself

The authorities possibly don't have either the resources or inclination to enforce currently. However, that doesn't mean they won't in the future, and if your traffic is logged then it's an awful lot easier to prove and/or prosecute at a later date.........think of it a bit like DNA. In the 70/80's the Police didn't have the capability to utilise DNA profiling properly, however they can now relook at those old crimes and catch people retrospectively.
Is there any limit on the amount of data to be downloaded or streamed per month ??
What sites are you all going on to get blocked ip? I've never had a block ever. On the desktop version.

Are you using mobile or out and about?

When searching for a vpn, never ever go by the vpn lists. Almost all of the bog standard vpn's use affiliate marketing so those sites make a profit when you buy from their so called review lists.

Its really hard to find reputable sites to advise you. I'd start by searching for "that one privacy guy" he tries to give you no bs reviews and has no paid reviews. I don't think he has ever publicly revealed which vpn he uses either which makes him even more reputable.
does this have an app you can dload straight to android box ?
currently using ipvanish and getting about 110mb would this be any better?
thanks
Good review here:

restoreprivacy.com/win…pn/

Be aware activity is logged.

Also lifetime subscioptions which are offered by some other VPN's are pretty worthless if you check the T+C's

crazy. I cant access windscribes website. Its blocked by my Internet provider... it must be because when I enable my VPN on my mobile and laptop (both through wifi Vodafone fibre) I can access the site, but I turn it off its blocked. This is a problem because the windscribe app that I have just downloaded on phone and pc cant verify my login details because it shows as blocked

i had issues when creating accounts on some sites for example making an email on mail.com i was getting errors same with textnow. also whenever i was forced to used googles recaptcha sometimes i'd be solving for 3 minutes just to login to a website which is one of the reasons i'd rather just pay more for a unique ip from another site. Like other users have mentioned best vpn lists are normally a waste of time dude to the fact that they're promotion ones which offer big affiliate kickbacks

I recently switched to vodafone broadband. I had exactly the same issue with it being blocked including accessing the windscribe website. If you go your myvodafone account page, click "manage content controls" (in account summary) and then turn off the "content control profile", that should work. Well it did for me. Good luck

Yeah I noticed that. I was in a short stay rental a couple of weeks ago and yeah Sky blocked Windsrcribe. I had to use another VPN to connect, which is weird.

I got a 1 year sub to Windscribe for $10 the other week mainly for using it to buy Xbox games but I've been using it everyday with the Firefox addon and SOCKS5 proxy for qbittorrent. Works great!

It's also the only VPN I've used where US Netflix/Amazon actually work properly.

I guess that's 140mbps with the VPN client running on your PC, rather than on the router?
Do netflix block them? I've used PIA for ever, and stuck with them even though netflix now block traffic to them..... really miss being able to watch my uk netflix account when i'm abroad

Could it be virgin throttling you for the VPN?

Yep, unfortunately Virgin throttle most (if not all) VPNs to almost unusable speeds. I’ve tried quite a few and despite getting 100mbs plus normally, when the vpn is on it’s more like 5-10mbs.
One of the reasons I’m looking for a new BB provider!

No they don't. I VPN to customer networks to do my job and they're fine.
