ITV Player Now Available FREE On Android @ Android Market

Catch up on ITV programmes from the last seven days, on your mobile device.
ITV Player on Android is ITV’s new video catch-up service for mobile and tablet devices.
This is the first Android application that allows you to view ITV programmes on your handset – we hope you enjoy using it and would love to hear your feedback as we enhance the application.
You can watch all ITV programmes that we have the rights to show on mobile, for up to seven days after broadcast.
- Works on your Android mobile and tablet devices
- Requires a Wifi connection to playback programmes
- Catch up on programmes from ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4
- Free to download with unlimited usage
- Browse recommended programmes
- Search for programmes by channel or alphabetically
To use this application you need a mobile phone or tablet device that runs Android 2.2 (or higher), Adobe Air 2.6 (or higher) and is connected to wireless internet.
You must be in the UK to view our programmes. Unfortunately we’re unable to show our content to users outside the UK. People in some regions will be restricted to only viewing ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 programmes.
We ask for your email address when you first start the application. This is so we can keep you informed about improvements and other exciting developments at ITV. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the welcome email that you will receive.
Please refer to itv.com/itv…oid for more information and to see our supported device list. You can contact us using: [email protected]
**Update 21 June 2011**
In response to user feedback with regard Air usage - this is because we are utilising Flash Player technology which requires the Air runtime. If you are running out of available memory, update to the latest release of Air 2.7 which can be moved onto external storage, i.e. the device SD card.
The application should work on most Android devices but performance is dependent on device and processor capabilities. If the application is not working correctly it is recommended that you close other applications which may be running in the background.
We will look into incorporating the exit button into a future release. At the moment the application runs in the background for 30 minutes to allow you to return to the application where you left it. After that period the application shuts down completely.
We are also looking to providing support for Honeycomb 3.x tablets.

I agree but sometimes has some good films.

Not compatible with Samsung Galaxy S.

Not compatible with my Dell Streak (got it installed anyhow with an apk downloaded from elsewhere) adobe air keeps force closing when it's running, picture quality a bit on the grainy side + you have to agree to receive spam from ITV ...... to an email of your choice of course. May come in useful for something.

I was all gung-ho on this until I installed it and realised that ITV broadcast NOTHING I'm interested in.

Uninstall.

Installs ok on Motorola Defy with the recent upgrade to Android 2.2. Performance is quite poor though, with jerky motion and poor lip - sync.

ITV4 has some good motorsport and cycling coverage, and recently had absolutely superb Isle of Man TT coverage. Credit where credit's due!

It uses Flash so won't work on devices that don't support flash

Working fine on my Advent Vega, but UI has fatal flaw! Vega as standard has no hardware Home button. ITV Player goes full screen thus hiding the soft Home button, and refuses to respond properly to the back button. Net was that once I was in to the app I couldn't get out short of a power off! Poorly designed app!

(And for any Vega users who didn't know it you can actually use the free Spare Parts app to change the behaviour of the power button to include going home).

Cheers for the tip, got a Vega at work I've been playing with.

Don't think so - no Flash...

Not compatible with Honeycomb tablets (like xoom), also not compatible with HTC Hero.

Reading the reviews for this app I don't think I'll bother... :-P

ITV are slow and useless at releasing apps for everyone, still waiting for itv player on my tv, bbc iplayer has been available for some time now,

also why did they choose flash anyway? they were using silverlight at one point, why jump from the frying pan into the fire?

Doesn't work on my HTC Desire! but but works on my Girlfriends!! Android is just GREAT!

yeah the website confirms it doesn't work on samsung galaxy s
