My preference is the Blue on Silver Dial. Mappin and web have these for £7050 mappinandwebb.com/IWC…702/These are selling for over £5000 used on Chronext chronext.co.uk/iwc…wcB

The Portugieser Chronograph has been the most sought-after model in the Portugieser family since 1998. Back then, it was the first Portugieser watch that not only allowed the wearer to read the time, but also to stop it. Its moderate, 40.9-millimetre diameter also makes it ideal for a more slender wrist.

Everything is integrated harmoniously on the clearly organized dial with the encircling precision scale: the recessed totalizers, the embossed Arabic numerals and the perfectly proportioned feuille hands for hours and minutes. In the stainless-steel version with a silver-plated dial, the blue hands and appliqués perfectly complement the dark blue alligator leather strap.

  • CASE SIZE (MM): 41
  • BRACELET/STRAP: Leather
  • FACE/DIAL COLOUR CHOICE: Silver, Black or Blue
  • MOVEMENT: Self winding automatic
  • COMPLICATION: Chronograph
  • CASE MATERIAL: Stainless Steel Watch Case
  • NUMERALS: Arabic
  • WATER RESISTANCE: 30m
  • WARRANTY: 2 Year International Manufacturers Warranty
  • CRYSTAL: Sapphire Crystal

I have to agree, however as it's not all Tag's they won't get the recognition they deserve.

Brand recognition is simply a reflection of how good a marketing team a company has. Tag a Heuer have some of the best marketing staff in the world. However, these watches speak for themselves. They are stunning.
One of the most beautiful watches on the market.
Why cold? Affordability should not be a factor to determine if a deal is food or not.
Lovely watch on my list with about 20 others for a lottery win buy . Few a bit cheaper on chrono24

I'd agree with you, but here are my thoughts:
1) WOS has this cheaper (even if it's oos, that means that they're willing to go down to that price).
2) As a personal rule - at this price you should go to the local AD and try to negotiate - more times than not they'll match or beat the price. If you don't know a dealer then go to one from next week once they're open, enjoy a beer/champagne, talk a bit about watches, and see if you can get a better deal, not to mention try it on your hand before you buy it.

Just my 2c since 8% seems like a very low discount at this price point.
Should one net get a much longer warranty on a watch costing this much?

Think they'll now let you extend it to 8 years from new if you join their my iwc (guess there's a cost to that)
always 20%off for this brand

A £51k AP comes with 3 years warranty, only!

Ain't there just. The Hublot watches in particular are very good value but I'm certainly not going ice cold by posting those on here! The standout in that sale for me though is the Longines Heritage Chrono, brilliant value: bankslyon.co.uk/lon…526

Agree, IWC are always open to discounting but do have good resale compared to lots of the other brands. Good price but more in line with what I'd expect to pay for this tbh.

I'm sorry I have to disagree with almost everything you are saying.

1. WOS doesn't have stock, also as they have sold out the displayed price is what it was a that time. I'm not sure when they sold out but watch prices in general have raised around 20% in the last year or two. Mappin and Webb currently have this in green for £7050 so if your going to compare prices, please compare with people can supply the watch. mappinandwebb.com/IWC…02/
2. I agree if you can contact the dealers and see if they can better the price. That goes with anything you buy from watches, tv's cars, etc.
How is a reduction from £6550 -> £5565 8% discount? Maths is not my strong point but I believe its around 15%. 21% if you want to compare against the Mappin and Webb price.

This is actually a standard warranty length for luxury watches. Patek Philippe offer a 2 year warranty too.

Not something I had noticed until you pointed it out, so I guess its not an issue for me. Though I've had a few watches that have had this.

But Tag also have had some good watches over the years. I've owned a few Aquaracer's and Link watches. Though Currently only have an Aquaracer which is around 5 years old.

Dave is correct, you can extend to an 8 years warranty if you have an IWC still in it's first two years of warranty.

Here's a link for the details. iwc.com/gb/…tml

It's a very simple and not overly busy watch. I like it too, just wish they would do a 44mm.

I’ve nothing against Tag, and just speaking about aesthetics, I like their look. As for quality, it is my opinion that Heuer were better before they merged. The first Tag Heuer were still nice, but after LV took over the company, it just wasn’t the same. That being said, they are still a powerhouse in the watch world. However, this IWC is in another league.

Totally agree, the quality isn't as good as it could be. IWC are in another league even to Omega and Breitling too.

Fair enough, though I'm unsure why you're pulling out the M&W price for a different colour in that case (especially comparing it to a green colourway).
1) Direct comparison and availability (though unworn/new can be an understandable point of contention and should be discussed with the AD on the impact towards the extended warranty):

*Black unworn @5010 here - iconicwatches.co.uk/iwc…BwE

*Blue new @5374 (possibly cheaper direct) here - hwatchesworld.com/sho…GBP

*White new @5150 (possibly cheaper direct) - chronoedge.co.uk/

2) Fair enough if you only wish to deal with the larger stockists rather than procurers, though if the extended warranty is accepted It’s worthwhile to think about.

3) I’ve quoted 8% since that’s what you have put as the reduction in percentage in your deal.

Now if only the gold Zenith El Primero Chronomaster would drop to this price

It's what put me off buying a few Breitlings. I wanted a Super Avenger 2, but when I've tried them of I've found the finish on the raised 15 minute markers on the bezel to feel quite sharp. At first I thought it was a fake, as I was working in India at the time. Though I've looked a few time since and they have all ben the same.

Exactly that. The sharp edges. If you have little ones around and you’re playing with them, it’d leave a nasty scratch.

The link for Mappin and Webb takes you to the Black one, and all the colour variation are the same price.

The Iconic watches deal, is a watch which was sold and registered in July 2017 so the warranty expires next month.

Watch world, I've never heard of them. With delivery times of 1-3 weeks, the watches will be coming from abroad. I've contacted them by messenger to get details but no reply yet, as again they could be pre registered.
Good shout outs!
My favourite watch brand.
