I get this most years as a gift from one family member or another, probably because I dont have the heart to tell them it is gut rot. Let's be honest ladies and gentlemen Jack Daniel's is a marketting exercise dressed up as a whiskey distillery. Much better out there.

You clearly aren’t a bourbon drinker then. Woodford is decent as is JD single barrel, but if you shop around and are willing to pay a bit more, then there is a whole world of better bourbons/whiskeys out there.

Stopped drinking JD a while back as it was a bit sickly with the after taste. Wondered how different this JD is compared to the regular stuff. Tried some Buffalo Trace but still a bit the same. What would you recommend?
Depends on your budget but a few decent ones - Makers Mark 46, Noah's Mill, Wild Turkey 101, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Eagle Rare, can pick most up for under £50. Jim Beam Black, Devil's Cut or Double Oak are decent for £20-£25.

I would also suggest four roses small batch and my favourite elijah Craig 12 year. Think it has been renamed now though. I have to say that I personally like Woodford reserve too, and that all these are better than Jack Daniels.

Not a JD fan myself, but I bought some Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Barrel Strength, 64.5% vol, and I have to say it's really good.Still prefer WT 101, or my favourite Knob Creek Single Barrel, and that's out of 40 odd different bourbons that I currently have.

There are some good suggestions above. If you are looking for something really special then you have to try Blantons or Michters (my two favourite bourbons).
