Wickes seems to be the place for compost bargains. Almost bought this the other day but will probably buy this instead now.

Heat added.

Another no stock wickes deal

Got seven no problem from my local Wickes - and there were other local alternative branches with stock.

I've used the Wickes old brand before - it's a rather dark soil that is akin to top soil. It's ok but drains rather too well so needs some fibres to soak up the water.

I have used the B&Q verve compost for the last 5 years or so and grown lovely crops in the garden however I noticed they have bumped up the price to a whopping £8.32 this year... To compare, it was ~£6.90 last year, £6.30ish the year before and was below £6 a few years more.

I realise we don't have time machines, but just showing the inflation.

May have to order 1000L bag from somewhere this year..

None in Oxford I tried to order 10 bags worth but they wouldn't allow delivery. However, like you said, there are branches with stock and smarts says search on their stock checker and ring up to be double sure. They are open late anyway and usually have a Toolstation inside.

Great price but the Grow Sure compost is better quality £3:33 / 50 L

hotukdeals.com/dea…068

Jacks Magic is better than most but full of wood bark compared to Grow Sure which has 4 months feed added

Both are worth the price B&M are asking TBH

Both good composts, but the Jack's magic is better to start seedlings where as Growsure is better for more mature plants and plugs (IMO).
I've started seeds directly in Jack's magic which you wouldn't do in the more fibrous Growsure (good for drainage and root development). Both are Westland products. The Growsure works very well for me in hanging baskets and is light (so easier to lift) but will need watered daily in summer, they do have a hanging basket mix with water retaining gel too though.
I have just planted seeds in screened top soil from B&M £2:49 FOR 20 L

WILL SEE HOW WE GO ON

Snow still on the ground here brrrr

----

Mycorrhizal fungi is the way to go when transplanting from the lighter feed jack's to the more heavier feed soils such as grosure, which I find has the grosure slow release pellets already implanted and can stress seedlings.

Sprinkle some where the new soil meets the roots of the old rootball and soon enough, the fungi will aid the roots to multiply, supply and create healthy root systems.

Kind regards all.

It's 5p per litre.

Not tried this one, looks a good buy though.
As usual they just rang me saying they're out or stock, pathetic
Thanks OP - great deal. Had a load delivered yesterday - with free delivery (over £75). Unbeatable price for a very decent product.
bought 10 from Hereford Branch. Good for seeds, so far so good.37128716-kePtc.jpg
