Why would you lease for 48 months, past the point of its warranty expiration and MOT?

Let the battle commence
Love a good lease deal but £11k+ (before servicing) to drive this car 20,000 miles over four years is pretty tough to swallow! I’ve not voted hot or cold because someone here might love this...

I'll vote cold for you. 5000 miles a year is a shocking deal.
This is actually £13,048.04 over 4 years once you factor in the initial payment.

Might appeal to some, but 4 year terms just don't appeal to me.

I know - neither did your deal when I compared like-for-like:

£12,589.75 on a 9+35 at £280.79 vs the same at £260.15/£11,716.60

This is don’t not have maintenance option

I'd rather pay for two services (which should be less than the £791.56 mainttenance package) on 36 month deal manually and hand back the car early to evade the third service.

Still a poor deal.

Hi @itsvinod2k
When you posted the deal title you posted Jaguar e-pace car lease starts at Monthly Payment £233.00 inc VAT’ with no cost details in the OP
There are so many options on this deal that it’s impossible to put them all into the deal title.
However a deal title should always include the cost and the merchant.
As you opted to headline with ‘starts at Monthly Payment £233.00’ that is the one I added vital information to the title i.e Initial Payment: £2,097.04 inc VAT 48m 5000 miles. I didn't edit the OP.
If you wish to change it to a different deal though that’s fine. Can you drop me a PM and I’ll delete this one for you and you can post again, but the deal and OP should include details such as monthly cost, initial payment, admin fee, mileage, length of lease, total cost and who the merchant is. Thanks

Leasing an electric car for four years? I.E. One year not included in the manufacturer's warranty.

Good luck when it breaks down and you have to pay the VERY expensive repair bill!!!
The leasing company is responsible for the car, doesn't matter about warranty.

You still have to MOT on a 36 month lease.

No - you hand it back beforehand. The MOT is for the fourth year.

We got a 36 month lease in February, in the Terms it states the car must not have an MOT or service due within 30 days of handing the car back. If I handed it back after 36 months then it will need one.

Then hand it back 31 days before and/or do the MOT for £20. Simple really.

There's an early termination charge. Either way you pay. So you do need to do an MOT on a 36 month lease. And the service too.

Well obviously you need to have (in theory) two services on a 36mth.

Better lease a 24 month car next time...

A 24 month for the lease I have is £30 a month more... Costing £720 extra. I'd rather pay £30 for an MOT

So what was the point of your rant? You're upset that your lease company won't allow you to return early and/or force you to do a service/MOT at cost?

Better choose a different company next time...

I am not on a rant, actually you are, you pointed out there is no MOT on a 36 month lease, to which I corrected you, this is not the terms of my lease company but also the terms of the previous two companies I have used, I would be very interested to find a lease company that does not apply this. Since I corrected you all you have done is try to back up your false information rather than holding your hand up and saying oops 'I'm wrong'. Have ever even had a 36 month lease? are you talking from experience or just trolling (aka trying to be a know it all smart ar$e).

Says the person who decided to personally message me on a thread not used since February and make a complaint.

you_gotta_be_kidding7 m ago

Because there isn't. An MOT covers the fourth year of a cars life, not months 25-36. Your lease firm has set you a rule. Not all lease firms do this.

to which I corrected you

And failed.

VWFS certainly don't to my knowledge but most of my leases are 24 mths.

But I am not wrong. You do not have to do an MOT for a car that you are not liable for unless the T&Cs state so. You have experienced that. It is not the experience of all leasors.

you_gotta_be_kidding7 m ago

Yes I have.

No - that would appear to be your remit.

But thanks for your contribution!
