James Acaster's second book in Kindle form.

*The Sunday Times Bestseller*

The brand new memoir from James Acaster: cult comedian, bestselling author of Classic Scrapes, undercover cop, receiver of cabbages.

PERFECT SOUND WHATEVER is a love letter to the healing power of music, and how one man's obsessive quest saw him defeat the bullshit of one year with the beauty of another. Because that one man is James Acaster, it also includes tales of befouling himself in a Los Angeles steakhouse, stealing a cookie from Clint Eastwood, and giving drunk, unsolicited pep talks to urinating strangers.

Can't stand this guy. To be where he is, there must be people who find him funny so fair play, I just don't find him funny at all.
Guy isn't funny in the least....just another middle-class, woke-ish so-called comedian. Read the first two chapters of his previous book and it was annoying. Try Louis CK instead.

Not seen them yet but love the podcast. It's a really simple concept but works so well
Audible narration also available for £6.99 extra. :-)
The podcast is just a joyful thing. The chemistry of the boys brings out the best of even a lame guest. When the guest is on form too it’s a riot!

I'm sure Louis CK's victims find him hilarious.
I’m half way through the book, enjoying it so far. It’s not as solely concentrated on music as I first thought. Very easy read
Rather unexpected category it's in:

I guess that's from the hundreds of albums he bought. 2017 is it? He wanted/wants to own all albums released that year. Has a hundred or so on vinyl and many more on CD, if I remember correctly.

The sweaty fat ginger sex pest that forced women to watch him masturbate in front of them?

I found Louis CK's stand up very funny, and thoughtful, but watched it years ago and then learned about the rumours. He did come across as creepy and an unapologetic creep / sex pest in his standup as well though.

Haven't seen him since.

I find James Acaster pretty funny or very funny in his panel show etc. appearances, and bought his first book and got it on Audible. Listened to the first few minutes on audible and it did put me off though. Felt like a tired anecdote. Perhaps it's just the intro that's a bit slow to get going, describing Josh Widecombe's podcast and his "scrapes".

Comedy is very much subjective. James Acaster is apparently the comedian's comedian. Who many comedians say they find the funniest. Clearly he's very well regarded. So he may not be to your taste but to state he isn't funny in the least as a matter of fact simply ins't correct.

He has a distinct, dead pan style. A bit like Richard Oyoade.

If you want to slate a comedian you're better off slating one who's comedy is generally regarded as trite, such as Michael McIntrye.

Can't understand the hate for McIntyre. Very well observed and he is funny. Proper funny. I love all stand up and there is room for all types as far as I'm concerned, from Jack Dee, to Doc Brown to Gervais to Chris Rock. We should just be thankful there are so many great comics out there and so much old stuff available on the internet to get us through these trying times
