I've just bought them all. You won't see these cheaper (if at all) for a looooong time. These are newly released bundles and its basically a 50% drop in price. Trust me these will be going back up for a while after this. If you are on the fence, pick them up whilst you can just in case they get pulled from the shop again due to licencing issues. As for barking back to the days of the advertised (but never happened) complete bundle for £49.99....yes it was cheaper and included OHMSS, but was it in 4K like this one is in the process of converting?!? No!

If you want the same films on 4K physical media (if they ever release them) then you better bring your wallet! This is a fantastic deal and don't pretend otherwise!

With regards to quidco, just remember its 7% PRE VAT, not the total purchase price. Good, just not as good as you think! Eg Connery set is £19.99, or £16.66 pre vat so a 73p cashback amount rather than £1.39 as often suggested on here.

wouldn’t it be better to buy the whole set when it’s reduced? how much does it usually go for when it’s on sale

9.99 + 9.99 + 19.99 + 17.99 + 4.99 = 62.95 and no OHMSS.

There’s no whole set right now as far as i can see. Apple did have a whole collection but pulled it from the store for a long while and reintroduced it as separates collections under each of the actors. Total price for the separate collection was £139 at launch.

The price for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has not dropped yet.
£2.50 a film is good and I'm pleased with that but I'd preferrably want to buy them all.

also strange how the roger moore collection £17.99 contains seven films and connery's is more expensive £19.99 but is six.

Not quite, if you want all then OHMSS is another £8.99 more.
And also depending on how you feel about it Never Say Never Again is also £8.99.
Only like the Daniel Craig films so this is a bargain considering it was £34.99 a few weeks back 😃 Brought!!

But there’s always a chance that HDR or DV will be added at a later date which cannot be done to the Blu-rays.
I’d hazard a guess that this could very well indeed happen when the 4K disc releases happen.
That’s exactly what happened to Die Hard and Predator.

Good to know. Personally I can't tell the difference between 4k and Blu-ray (on a 55" set). The only thing that makes a difference for me is HDR.

Brought where?
I know a few titles and especially Goldeneye (The ones that Lowry didn't do the first time) have been remastered in 4K and are only available here, I would be all over this but haven't got a Apple TV
Heat added although I’ll hold out for individual sales. Goldeneye is great but I wouldn’t pay a penny for the rest of Brosnan’s even in 8K super vision with hyper sound.

The oppo 4k players upgrade blu rays to Dolby vision

How do they do that then?
The Dolby Vision metadata is on the disc something standard blurays do not contain.
It may add some fake HDR that most decent TV’s can do anyway but it isn’t very good.
Thanks for posting, been waiting for a deal on these!

But it can't create Dolby Vision if the metadata isn't there on a standard bluray?

What player are you talking about? I can see Oppo have recently at Dolby Vision support for 4k discs but no mention of upscaling a standard bluray to Dolby Vision, given it's impossible anyway without the data.

It’s possible but it’s also possible these collection sets disappear leaving the individual films on their own again like the complete boxset did.

Yeah, I get that. I think my point is: on my 55" set, and from where I sit, I can't tell the difference (in resolution) between 4K and Blu-ray discs (which are helpfully included in 4K editions). As I've said, the only difference I notice is the colour range. HDR or equivalent. So I'm happy to stick with 1080 content while there's a big price difference.

I am aware that 4k editions will future proof me for when I get a bigger set, which we all seem to do sooner or later, when the resolution difference might become noticeable.

That’s what I thought when I saw that earlier, however it’s Quidco which pretty much always shows a lower tracked price but changes once confirmed.
This is my TopCashback from these all bar OHMSS which I’m gonna hold out for either a price drop or a lightning bonus deal.
All in all I’ve saved £11.30 with the 10% off the iTunes vouchers I bought.

Fake HDR no matter how good a job is still fake and not how the film makers intended it to be. The Oppo 203 is a great disc player but no it’s not the Director of the movies you are watching.

Quidco. It never seems to track the correct amount, as the amount tracked depends on the base rate initally agreed with the vendor. If the cash back amount increses or decreases (promotional rates etc)accordingly, then the difference will be adjusted when actually paid. Thats according to thier faqs!

I'm afraid you must be confused. Dolby Vision requires dynamic metadata to be encoded to the disc. The player cannot just make it up.

The Oppo website doesn't even claim what you are claiming:

"Dolby Vision transforms the TV viewing experience by delivering striking highlights, brilliant colors, and deep darks never before seen on standard television screens. With the latest firmware, UDP-203 is the first Ultra HD Blu-ray player in the world to bring this powerful cinema technology into home theaters. Dolby Vision encoded discs and a Dolby Vision enabled television are required to enjoy the full benefits of Dolby Vision."

oppodigital.com/blu…03/
I dont see how simple hardware can add stuff like Dolby Vision. The source needs it, it cant be added by the player. If that was the case, then why bother releasing anything with DV if players can simply just make it up? Surely if that was possible the Apple TV would have had this facility long ago?

Think I’m in agreement with the others on this one.
You can even force the ATV4K to output everything in Dolby Vision, however it doesn’t make what you’re watching any more Dolby Vision that what it was before.
It might look good, but it’s definitely not Dolby Vision without the supported metadata to go along with it.

Lol, provide some links then. I think you may be getting confused.

As I and others have stated it is impossible for a standard Blu-ray to display Dolby vision.
