It was an unnoficial remake as far as I can remember

Yep - and a different studio, so it wasn't an MGM production. It used to be very hard to get on DVD, and many people forget it, and it used to be hard to get hold of even on DVD, though the DVD is more readily available now

And, of course, the more definitive version of "Casino Royale" - with David Niven.

There is a special edition of NSNA coming out soon, already out in the states. But yes, it's not a part of the official EON canon, so you'll never see it acknowledged by them.
