Cracking whiskey at a cracking price.

Charring is an age-old method for invigorating barrels to intensify the taste. Jameson Black Barrel is a tribute to our coopers, who painstakingly give their barrels an additional charring to reveal their untold richness and complexity. Time spent maturing in these double-charred barrels lends our whiskey a unique richness, with more intensified notes of vanilla sweetness and caramel, alongside toasted wood, fruit, and warm spice. Jameson Black Barrel - triple distilled, twice charred, for a rich smooth taste.

Bet this would make a nice irish coffee.....only one way to find out!
Sainsbury's are also doing Jameson Crested for £22 at the moment.
Taken a punt
I tried this the other week. Very enjoyable, on my second bottle. quite expensive from Tesco though, I think it was around the £35 mark.
Heat added
The stout edition is also available at £20 and looks good. Being a bit of a cheapskate I went for a bottle of Paddy's at £15 though to add to my Irish whiskey collection. A great value whiskey IMHO.

Of course it's all down to personal taste but Caskmates really isn't in the same tier as Black Barrel. Black Barrel has a unique flavour which comes from the cooper's method of charring the barrels before ageing to give the dram a phenomenal burnt toffee/spicy taste.

Paddy's, made in the same Middleton distillery as Jameson, is an excellent addition to any whiskey collection - purchased 2 bottles myself once I saw the price drop to £15, no brainer. Great bang for your buck and one of my favourite budget blended whiskeys - better than Jameson or Tullamore Dew imo.

Crested is another good Jameson edition, Black Barrel is essentially Crested aged in charred barrels.

Thanks for the "beginner's guide"! I picked up a bottle of Stout Edition a while back and have been enjoying it - with lime and ginger ale, so far - but I intend to try some neat, side by side with Crested (and maybe Black Barrel, too) to distinguish the difference.

Ginger Ale and Lime is a great way to casually enjoy Jameson.
