Been looking at one for a while but didn't want to pay £10 for something I may only use once and a while. There are lots in the Romford store so I thought for £2.50 I'd get one! Made from granite and 15cm diameter. Instore offer!

Well he is shutting lots of his restaurants and blaming it on brexit.
Could it be that people have worked out that he's a complete sanctimonious ****?

More importantly, how did people not know that for years ?

Have you got a clue what you are talking about. Firstly have you ever been in a JO restaurant or even better worked in one. His chain cares more about their staff that probably most others. And why shouldn't Brexit affect his Italian restaurants - if you had been there you would see that a lot of the ingredients and products need tk be sourced from Italy, a country which has the Euro as its currency. Since Brex#*it the pound has lost 25% against all major currencies including the Euro. Simples!

Absolute balderdash. Pre the referendum, £1 = 1.20 euros. It's now at 1.14 by my maths, that's 5%.

It doesn't have Jamie Oliver written on the pestle or mortar. I'm not a fan either. Just thought it was a really good price!

Don't know where you get your Euros from - before the Brex#*it stuff took hold the pound was worth 1.42. It dropped to mid 1.20 in the days running up to the referendum and then jumped to mid 1.36 on the night of referendum when markets thoughts that remain had won. It just keeps dropping whenever Mrs may opens her mouth. This is only the start of the mess that this referendum has got us into - its not even started. You keep deluding yourself - I want to know where the £360 billion for the NHS is. At least the leave voters wil get their way with immigration - no one will bother wanting to come here

Just to let you know I called at around 4pm and they had 30 or so left in Stock. I suggest getting there first thing tomorrow morning if you want to ensure you get your hands on one. Good luck!

No. It plummeted swiftly pre referendum. It was performing as high as 1.40+ then holding around 1.30+ before the referendum outcome gathered force as being a serious possibility for an exit vote. All of which was to be expected. Lidl and other european supermarkets here are sustaining low prices so all he had to do was nip down to Aldi for the olive oil and pasta. This chain has failed for other reasons. Over expansion mainly. MPW chains are faring likewise.

Excellent deal op. A large granite Pestle and Mortar is a quality bit of kitchen kit whoever's name is on it. The JO brand is just imploding. Voted hot.

Oh dear, you didn't take long in revealing your true colours there did you. Let me guess, you'll believe any Brexit excuse trotted out and probably will blame it all for years to come.

Anyway, this is a good deal, remember this is a deal site.

But hey, let me match your short term memory.....your maths are wrong! Even a year ago the exchange rate was .€1.30 to £1, you're going back to mid 2015 to get your rate of 1.42. The current rate is actually higher now than it was until mid-late 2014.

Facts eh, they kind of piddle over over your excitable rhetoric !

You can't just pick out the highest and lowest and claim the difference is all down to Brexit. (even then, your maths @ 25% is wrong). We will still be in the EU for more than two years! Currencies fluctuate all the time, it was at 1.14 in 2013 before the referendum was even on the radar. It was 350bn by the way and nobody claimed it would be spent on the NHS. What was said was that the funds we send to the EU 'could' be spent on the NHS if those in charge of the purse strings chose to. It's about time the Remoaners let it go now. The result is in, we will be leaving, get used to the idea and put your energies into making the best of it.

My maths are wrong? Better than the brex#*itters lies

Anyway, the pestel and morter is a grate deal - shame the local wilco is still being built - thx to OP.

this is rubbish. put grey dust from the bowl everywhere fake granite. rubbish. dint waste your money on this

Completely useless, too small ... A good Pestle & Mortar needs to be at least 8" across & 6" deep to avoid spilling everything you're trying to smash/grind/crush etc!

The 360 billion is still being paid to the Evil EU , we cannot pay it to the NHS or anyone else for the next two years, we are still in this failing ideal of one big super state. How remoaners cannot grasp this simple fact is beyond me.
BTW granite is radio active, but it is still a good price , thanks OP

I've got this and boy is it heavy!!!!

Blender/ food processor= way less hastle

I have one of these, around 6 years old and still brilliant. At this price I'm tempted!

Is this store specific?

At least the debate here hasn't turned to blaming GPs for the collapse of the JO brand ... but just waiting for the Government to make that link - maybe GPs could work extra hours in JO restaurants to keep them going

Good deal - voted hot

tinca

Probably??? And you to are being a sanctimonious **** as well

Sound like someone has learnt a new word....

A 15cm solid granite pestle and mortar for £2.50? This is a total bargain. Don't care about brexit, euros or the Jamie Oliver brand, this is a HOT deal

Please keep on deal topic, if you want to chat about other stuff then Misc is the place. Thanks.

Is this store specific?

No, I got mine from the Ilford store

Yep...if you life goes tits up blame it on Brexit!:p. Personally never eaten at JO establishment but I know others who did and it was 60/40 in favour that it wasn't that great.

I've got Jamie Oliver cutlery and it's great, decent quality stuff.

Poor Jamie , he is hardly short of a few bob

All restaurant chains go through closures and ups and downs , that's part and parcel of business

The political conversations here are riveting, but one thing still confuses me:

I always called this a Mortar and Pestle??
