My favourite part of Christmas is buying these from Asda for under £12 after Christmas is done. I usually buy a few to hang around the house, and to use as an air freshener in the car.

Can't recommend these Lidl ones except as a novelty (which wears off fast). Both times I've encountered them the meat has been tough and tasteless so there's little incentive to keep the thing around.

I did not feel the Asda one was much better, I found them both more or less the same, OK for my taste but nowhere near as what I ate in Spain. I did get bored of it after a while, I guess these big ones are good if you have a party or guests around.
I would suggest that you ignore the knife which comes with these as you need a really sharp knife to cut slices from it as thin as possible, much thinner than that packaged wafer thin ham you can get these days, otherwise you will find it very hard to chew. I use one of those ceramic knives and then it tastes much better and is easy to chew and eat.

If it's tough you're probably carving it too thick. It has to be super thin.
Here's a good video

This! Only good when cut thin with an good knife, just like you’d see in the pre-cut serrano ham packs.

Tempting at this price, drop round on Christmas Day with this under my arm

Yep, this is what I do too. But are the big ones £12? I think last year I've paid £10 after Christmas for the 2 kg one, this is 7 kg.

Are you sure you paid this for the 7kg? This is the very big one, a whole leg. I buy cheap too after Christmas or New Year, but never paid so little for the big piece.

Yep, iirc last year's was on something like 90% off... I grabbed 2 and some woman grabbed the last one, I think people mistook the label because it looked like £13.66.... pretty sure it was a mistake...
Yup...these suckers are practically given away. You just need to check in on stock everyday on the way home.

I've got at Easter 3 big legs of lamb from Aldi, £5 each as the date was use by the next day. So happy with my purchase, didn't think I had no room in freezer, had to get rid of lots of stuff to make room

It was a worthy cause. Unless you already had remnants of other animals in there all that stuff was expendable

I happily got rid of the chicken and the frozen peas to make room for unhealthy stuff.
Just bought one, it says on the packaging net weight 6.5kg. comes with stand but no knife.
Take one of these to work most days. We just about manage to finished it off while out in the van between the two of us
