Japanese Wagyu A5, the most expensive meat in the world. This would normally cost upwards for £60+. £29.99 was a deal, this is practically giving it away!

Mum's cooking this and it somehow ends up looking like beef jerky!

Expensive bit of chewing gum when she's done with it.

    What makes this so expensive

Same thing as Japanese whiskey. Hipsters.

The rearing method is what makes this beef expensive. In Japan, to qualify for the Wagyu mark, the cattle have to be reared and fed according to strict guidelines.

I wish I was treated as well as wagyu

    Great deal

Though it still looks like a slab of fat with some veins of meat in it, and not the other way around!

Absolutely delicious, dont waste any of your money on "British wagyu", get a5 Japanese, melting in mouth, beefy richness

    Did it just start today?

Look like a lot more fat than usual in that pic ...

It melts during cooking to make the most tender steak. You have to believe it is worth 3 times the price of a fine piece of fillet or ribeye. I don't

They had this at the same price in Beaumont Leys, Leicester today too

Cook for 2 minutes each side and done, season in advance of cooking.

Just bagged some. Thanks so much for this post. Can’t wait to try, hope I don’t screw it up Very clear instructions on the box.

Just to be slightly pedantic although A5 Wagyu is extremely expensive it’s the Matsusaka and Kobe varieties that have the crown of most expensive meat on planet earth.

For anyone wondering, genuine Wagyu is a soft, velvety experience, a taste profile quite unlike steak really. It’s extraordinary, but of course it may not impress everyone. (edited)

I've eaten shedloads of this stuff, I used to work as a translator in Tokyo, I genuinely don't remember being thrilled by it. A lot of beer and sake went with it though.
