Famed for their legendary upbeat sound and tough construction, the JBL Control One speakers are a true classic.

Rugged design for flexible placement
Tough and rugged cabinets make these speakers ideal for commercial and harsher environments. Unlike wooden speakers, these polypropylene moulded speakers won’t rot, crack or deteriorate, making them ideal for use in pool areas, bathrooms, kitchens, conservatories and commercial applications. Rounded edges with protective ‘bumpers’ protect both speakers and surroundings.

Powerful sound
JBL have a long history of producing punchy studio monitors and the Control 1 speakers reflect that sound tradition. Titanium-laminate tweeters matched to 100mm woofers provide a bright, forward sound that is ideal for cutting through background noise, again making these speakers ideal for commercial use in bars, cafes and shops.

Magnetic shielding
Magnetic shielding means that these speakers can safely be used at close range to magnetically vulnerable areas. If you have precious reel-to-reel, cassette, video or other taped media, these speakers can safely be placed alongside. The shielding also protects against picture distortion on older CRT TVs and display systems.

Wall-mounts included
Supplied with flexible wall-mounts, the Control Ones can be mounted high up and out of the way but also angled downwards to direct the sound. Flexible ball joints give a wide range of directionality. Safety wires, in case of mount failure, are also supplied.

A legendary speaker that’s available at a competition-busting price, thanks to your friends at Richer Sounds!

I was using QA 3010 as my PC speakers and decided to move them to an AV system I was setting up in my living room and buy these JBL to use as my PC speakers.

It was a mistake. The JBL had no bass punch and the highs and sound stage weren't that good either. The QA 3010 were superior in every way. I didn't enjoy listening to music on these and ended up selling the JBL and getting another pair of QA 3010.

I think the QA 3010 are only £79.

That's stretching it. I had a pair when i was trying different cheap speakers as surrounds, they're not good enough to use as main speakers but are decent enough for surrounds, that's about it. You can regularly buy QA 3020's for £99 now which are much better speakers, the QA 3010 at £79 are better too. They're more comparable to other cheap ~£50 speakers like Mordaunt Short M10, Wharfedale Diamond 9 etc.

These were £49 delivered on the website until a few days ago when they went back up to £99 btw, they're "on sale" for £49 pretty much every month.

for fifty quid they’re great!

obviously they’re crap compared to a true high end audio system and the above quote is to be taken in context

if I hadn’t just spent a hundred on 5x Dayton Audio PS95 drivers to 3D print my own enclosures i’d Have purchased these JBL’s

What we recommending on the small speaker market? I use 3 monitors and putting 2 larger speakers at either on the 3 screens is too far away for the distance I sit. Only option I could think of is to put the speakers the left and right of the middle screen or get speakers small enough to sit under.

Audio Engine a2+ look okay but a bit more than I wanted to pay. Any suggestions?

Silly question, but did you need to run these through an amp to get them linked to your PC?

A mini amp would be ideal for PC use. The SMSL amps sold on Amazon and eBay are popular.

I use something with a bit more grunt. The power makes the bass sound better:-

The first practical use for a 3d printer i've heard of. The gun was a good one too.
Edifier R1280T Active Bookshelf Speaker System with Remote Control and Dual RCA Inputs - Brown Wood amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GBN50SC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1i86DbNBNQVD7

They cost "slightly" more , but they sound incredible! Great reviews as well.

I've got the Bluetooth version and love them. Another plus is they look much more expensive than they are (materials and finish are excellent)

Hear this, hear this. Spend double, get something a bit better!! (But not twice as good)
The question was can you get better for 100 quid. The answer is yes.

Agreed.ⁿ
The Wharfedales that were on here the other week are pretty good for the money too. I've got the 3010s and 3020s and if you can get the 3020s for around £100 then do it, they are fantastic speakers!
I have three sets of these on my home cinema and for the money they are great.Great build quality and good wall brackets.
